Default Gil Hodges

I have noticed what either seems like a wide variety of signing styles for Gil or maybe a bunch out there are fakes, maybe both. Does anyone have a keen eye for Hodges specifically? I notice some of the signatures look very fancy, like he spent a bit more time and then a lot of what appear to be hurried examples. I've seen both "types" certified, but that doesn't always mean much either. Some were sold on ebay, some are for sale, some were just from a google search (but probably from ebay). Any of these stick out as fake?

I have one I bought from Richard Simon years back and without digging it out I think it looks similar to the first image I posted. I also have one of those Wilson Meats photos, a couple wire photos and an UD buyback card. All of those signatures seem to vary as well.

I know what you mean regarding the differences in style and flow, but I think there is a general consistency with all of the autographs you showed despite subtle differences. In my opinion, all that you showed are authentic. The secretarial versions and forgeries that you see have some major differences in formation. At first glance they look the part, but upon close inspection don’t pass the smell test.

On second look, I don’t like the last one.

I think the last one might have been an a slab, but I don't recall. Again, not that it matters. Sometimes they get it wrong too.

The thing that gets me is the flair he seemed to use sometimes, especially the G in some of the signatures, then seeing it look like a basic cursive G in others.
