Default Titus sells for $500?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/20395019989...rdt=true&rt=nc

Is this where t206's are headed?

Congratulations if our seller is on the Net54 forum and I hope the sale goes thru!!!

I don't like seeing the PRIVATE feedback guy running it up.

I also don't like the fact that 64% of his bids are with that one seller. I think I smell fraud.

On 2nd thought, scratch that. The way that they calculate bid percentages now is funky.

Agreed. This was one wonky bidding process.

Quite a time to be an epidemiologist. Covid-19, avian flu, monkey pox, and possibly a new outbreak of Titusitis.

Is the SC 350/30 difficult to find in this?

If you look at all previous sales of Titus on eBay, it's not that outlandish. That and the Magee portrait seem to be pretty hot.

The PSA 4 at REA just sold for $875 + 20%.

Considering a '2' sold for $160 a mere 6 months ago, YES it is outlandish.

That one was a POLAR BEAR back. You can't compare the two.

The one you SHOULD compare it to was the '3' that sold for $300 +20% buyer premium. A grade and a half higher.....for less money. The private bidder on Ebay ran it up. I'm calling foul.

There is a reason auctions are private and they aren't good reasons.

The auction wasn't private. The feedback was. I don't know why that would be private either though.

I dont think so. Generally speaking, 350/30 is the most common of all SC backs. Its the factory 25 that is difficult and can sometimes be downright impossible

Tituses were in great demand there for awhile. Everybody wanted the only T206er with a moustache. Somebody here made this FrankenTitus of me about 2010 or so. Might have been Wonka but am not sure. Worth five hundred bucks, to me anyway.

The mustachio, not the card.

What difference does it make if he's listed as "Private" or not? If you click on the icon on the bid list, you can still see his feedback number and relevant bidding history just like every other bidder on that card. You can't see any other bidders feedback either, unless you are the seller.

Somebody got run up, but I don't see any evidence of shilling. Unless that seller just shilled the Titus card, and not the 100+ other T206's on his sold list.

Maybe this guy buys lots of adult material or some other niche collectible and doesn't want to be tracked.....or is like a veteran boxing collector I know, and goes way back to the beginning of Ebay, and became paranoid of bidding competitors tracking his bidding history and running HIM up. Never been a seller himself, but made himself "private", in order to throw off rival bidders, and never changed his MO through the years as Ebay became more privacy oriented.

Oh yeah.........and then there's the mustache. Maybe the wrong collector got hypnotized by it....yet again.

While I thought it was high, Titus’ have been hard to find. There has been several times over the last few months that there have been none on eBay. I’m somewhat interested in a back run and got an OM, SC350/25, and PB, but he seems to really be hard to find again and getting expensive….
