Default Rusty Willy and his list of 5

"Now, if I can only get

1) Paul to give up the Allegheny Selee
2) Leon to give up the Lone Jacks Comiskey
3) Patrick to give up the Just So Clarkson
4) Matt to give up the Cabanas Hill
5) Richard to give up the G&B Spalding"

The above list was part of another thread, but I didn't want to high jack that thread.

While looking at that list, it got me to pondering the imponderable.
The list is formidable.
Rusty has good taste.
They're all good in their particular areas.
From that list, which Samaritan would be The Samaritan to help Rusty fill a spot.

Who will it be?
Paul, Leon, Patrick, Matt, Richard or the unknown Mr X?

One thing I know for sure, if it's among N54's, it will be a fair minded price for both sides, plus the fact that first borns, and left testicles are no longer required.

Rusty, luck with the empty slots.

He mentioned to me last week that he also needed a G & B O'Rourke from someone on this board. Add that to his list.
As for the left one, his impending nuptials will insure that he'll soon lose control, so I"m sure he'll gladly trade it away rather than lose it outright.

You have to admit it - I gave everybody a crack at it last year in Ryan's auction.

You're right, Mark has a great collection and fine taste in cardboard, but Mr. Hill is off the table. Would a photocopy suffice. I've actually had lunch with Mark, who is a great guy, and have had a hand in deals that landed him a couple of his cards. That nice DiHigo used to be mine.

It sounds like he may have a shot at filling a couple holes next month between Mastro and REA!

Joe, the real questions is when are you going to let that little Ghost come up and stay with me in Colorado?

Matt

BTW - Mark, what's the deal with Baker? Won't a Cracker Jack fit your bill?

Mastro will be auctioning off the famous SGC 88 Josh Gibson 1951 Toleteros card this summer.

Is it true what Anthony says about the G & B O'Rourke?

Comon man, don't make me look bad.
We're all tryin ta help.
You gave us the short printed list.
How can we help you, if you don't lay all your cards on the table. ..... face up?
--------------------

Hello Matt,
About that Li'l Ghost that you speak of.
Your name always comes up in any conversation that Li'l Marcelle and I would have.
We always speak highly of you.
Right now, Li'l Marcelle is in his room, wearing his smoking jacket, and reading his favorite book, ... "Only the ball was White."

Why it was only yesterday when he said to me, If I ever wanted to leave here ___ Matt's our man.
We both smiled, and he went back to his book.

The List, the list, my Kingdom for the list.
Without it, ... how can we help Rusty?

Great.....now I have no chance! I had visions of winning the lottery, offering these fine collectors thousands (over, over, and over) and walking away with the steals of the century. Thanks guys

There's also Adam or Mark's 1928 PCL Exhibit Averill!

Matt - First, thanks again to you and our friend for some of my prized beauties. DiHigo is in Colorado forever! I originally had a M116 for Baker, then a Cracker Jack but decided to go with the D359. It's a "little" trimmed but real (thanks Zach). So, far it's the only copy I've been able to purchase, and yes, I'm in the market for an upgrade - hint, hint. I love this card!

Hal - The theme is portraits (shoulders and above) so the Toleteros Gibson doesn't work. The tribute Perez-Steele will have to do for now.

Hal

What else are you going to be selling? Your Gibson was already spammed in this thread.

It's all falling into place.
The voices.
The voices kept saying.

Help me, help me.
Get me out of here!
I'm a Cuban, born on a tropical island.

Get me out of Colder ado, I'm freezing my culo off!

It was DIHIGO.
Martin was seeking help from the tropical east coast.

Rusty, be all you can be, and do the right thing.
Move to the East Coast.

It's not Mark and his El Inmortal that need to move to the coast, it's you and your little Ghost that are being called up to the mountains. You're probably not aware of the vortex, a fluke in the time-space continuum, whereby the Cuban baseball cards from the 1920's are being summoned to Colorado of the early 21st century - at least for a short stay. Since you are Cuban yourself (although not from the 1920's) maybe you are feeling the pull yourself. The East coast is not cundusive to cardboard preservation anyway, with the humidity, hurricanes, etc. Bring that little guy up to the crisp mountain air for a visit, that's what the real Marcelle did even though he didn't have a smoking jacket that I'm aware of.

BTW, when I read your earlier response my wife was eavesdropping and she is convinced that you are a soothsayer - right behind us on the couch was my copy of Petersen's great book!!

I've been busy at work and haven't spent much time on this board the last few days, so I didn't see my name mentioned until now. I'm flattered that my Frank Selee card made a top 5 list, but it's not going anywhere. It's still waiting to be joined by Richard's G&B Spalding and his W600 Burkett, Matt's Pete Hill, and the uncut Mallorquina sheet that includes Willie Foster. When this happens, there will be peace and joy throughout the world.

By the way, does anyone know who purchased the Mallorquina sheet, or is that confidential?
