Default 1952 and 53T 1 cent packs - why so hard to find?

Why are the 52 T 1 cent and 53T 1 cent packs so difficult to find? As most of you know, I have been involved is buying and selling 1933 to 1970 wax packs for almost 50 years but only really got heavily involved over the past 7-10 years.

My collection is almost complete but I still need some rarities. I finally added 52 and 53 1 cent wax packs with one of each for sale. They are almost perfect but why are they so rare? Was their print run very low compared to the 5 cent packs? Were they included in the batch that Topps sunk in the Hudson?

The PSA population reports indicate a very low availability?

Any other ideas? Yes they are for sale but you may have to mortgage the house.

Regards

Steve

prior to 1952, Bowman controlled the market and many of their packs
possibly contained well known future Hall Of Famers
Mantle was only a NY local known Rookie
same with Mays ,
Topps limited their production for the first few years
so lower demand meant less printed
at least thats my opinion
