No, I don't think it makes a difference. I am on chrome too. The chat is just broken right now. (for me and some others)

Our chat room, for all practical purposes, isn't working. It is on the "to-do" list. Hopefully I can get something figured out soon. I will push it a bit higher on the priority list.
