Good thing you were getting rid of the ball when you did, Ian...there were a few big dudes coming right for ya!
And yeah, that referee must've had a doobie or two to be that relaxed mid-game.

I have several
I have several different cards from trading groups (OBC), Fan Booths (Fanfest, National), etc.
My favorite is the one below...In 1997, I wrote in to a fan contest sponsored by the Dodgers asking fans to write about their experiences at Dodger Stadium. I wrote about my grandfather taking me when I was younger and what a special time it was when I got my driver's license and was able to take him for the first time. I was one of 20 lucky winners that got to play a modified game at Dodger Stadium. I was able to invite anyone I wanted to watch. That day, my grandfather, father, mother, girlfriend, brother, and several friends came to watch me play. The Dodgers went all out. They gave us all full uniforms (right down to socks and belts) that included the 50th anniversary patch for Jackie. Caps were fitted as well. I got my cap but choose to wear my grandfather's white Brooklyn Dodgers cap. We got dressed in the auxiliary clubhouse (which used to be the Angels clubhouse) but were given a tour of the Dodger clubhouse. We sat in the dugouts and played on the field. We were even announced by the Dodgers' announcer and had an intro. from Vin Scully. It was fantastic. Although I did not get a hit, I played a decent third base. We all got a great video (now on DVD) of the game and intro. We also were given tickets to that night's game and were introduced on the field before the game. My friend Peter (and fellow vintage card collector) was at the game and took many many pictures. Three of which he used to produce the card below. He wrote the copy as well. It is one of my most prized cards. I do not fit in the uniform anymore but still have it, both caps, even the socks! Joshua [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] |

My team made this for me for Christmas. It is in '75 style. Apologies for the picture - they did it as a joke.

When I saw the title of this thread I had a hunch Anthony would post my Suns card.
Its an actual licensed card that's in every '04 Suns team set, I won the right to be on a card on eBay. I had to supply the picture, so I wore my Bob Stanley (pitching coach jersey that I won in a charity auction the year before) and I supplied the text for the card reverse. I treated it like a business card and gave them away for Xmas in '04 to hobby friends. I won 50 cards of myself, 5 team sets, an auto Suns baseball and 4 tickets to a game where I threw out the 1st pitch. Ironically I met Anthony for the 1st time at the Cleveland National in '04 and that's where I spoke to Joe Orlando about grading these cards. Once he realized they weren't fantasy cards and legit licensed cards he obliged. Anthony was in line ahead of me trying to get his SGC Cracker Jack Maranville (I believe) crossed w/ no success. Can't believe this summer for the Cleveland Nat'l will be a decade already. |

Sorry for being tardy to the party...it has been a rough week
This card was created for me at Veterans Stadium in 1996, when they hosted the All-Star Game...a one-of-a-kind card, so far as I know. Earlier in this thread, someone mentioned FanFest. I believe they were the ones who made it.
Right after I got this, I went over to the fast pitch booth with my dad. Damn, if he didn't still throw harder than me. He was 40-something and I was in my 20's. Best regards, Eric
