Default February autograph pickups

Here is mine to kickoff (sorry, no pun intended SuperBowl fans) the month of February:

After waiting for several years for the right one, I finally upgraded my Jesse Tannehill autograph to a vintage fountain pen signed 3 x 5. Tannehill pitched an early turn of the century no-hitter in 1904. Many thanks to net54's Rhys Yeakley for helping me find this one. For those of you that have not ever bought from Rhys, he's a quality guy and great to work with!

For any of you that are looking to add a Tannehill, I currently have one for sale on eBay which ends tonight. If you are interested, make me a reasonable offer. Thanks!

That's a great vintage southpaw sig, Scott! A very underrated lefty from that era. I had a similar one with the Dayton inscription, but trimmed it to present with an 8x10.

Sorta wish I hung onto it...

Congrats!

Here are 3 pick ups to start the month:
1. A Dizzy Dean 3x5. It was such a pretty signature and a price too good to pass up
2. A Burleigh Grimes check. Again at a price too good to pass up.
3. A check signed with full name of Pee Wee Reese... Harold H. Reese. A full name signature of his has been on my want list for awhile.

Picked this up for $13.16 on eBay. Seller said his brother played with it and the family dog might have loved on it a little. The Sandlot is one of my favorite movies ever and this ball reminded me of the Ruth ball that the gang played with and Hercules got a hold of.

Took a chance on a lot that just arrived today. These are the keys in it. Usually I'm usually weary of raw superstars grouped together, but the sigs look clean and the with the bad listing title it was easy to overlook. Won the lot for fairly cheap so if some are bad I'm not out enough to get in a huff. Still waiting on my last PSA/DNA sub, so I might try these with SGC to save a few bucks. Any opinions on these six are welcome.

Don't know about that Brandon Phillips. Here's the one I got signed myself during spring training last year. Looks very different to me. Usually I use the rule of one bad apple, all bad apples:

Thanks for the replies guys. I knew bidding on them there was a chance they were junk and I'm only in them about $4 each.

FWIW, I think they look like they were signed during those guys time in the minor leagues. I have several Phillips, Waino and McCann that look like these. Those guys were all in the minors around the same time frame (early 2000s) so if the rest of the lot fits, that's another good sign. That said, there's not much to those sigs and they likely wouldn't be too tough to forge, so without knowing who they came from or how they were obtained I wouldn't feel comfortable saying definitively either way, though I'd lean more towards good than bad. I think if someone were to go to the touble of forging someone like Phillips for example, on a recent, easy to find card, they'd at least use a blue sharpie.

These are some great pickups everyone is posting!

My most recent is a 1953 Topps signed by Warren Spahn. I'd post a picture, but I'm having some difficulty figuring out how to post an image from a USB drive. I love getting those old Boston Braves cards signed.

Picked up a 1929 Cubs ball with Jimmie Burke, which clears a need on both my Cardinals (1905) and Browns (1918-20) managers.

Default Teddy Ballgame

Added another Williams piece to the collection this month... Saw a cool piece on eBay, and got it at a pretty darned good price...the original display had the ap mounted to what I thought was a piece construction paper... There was an interesting note on the paper which I pretty much discounted until i disassembled it. It turns out that it was a very brittle scrapbook page. The reverse had 3 newspaper clips (one dated to 49). Pretty cool account of how a young fan, got ted to sign!

Display also included a snapshot of ted in his car (perhaps the same day?)

I gave my framer what was salvaged from the page, and he was able to craft this beauty.

Default Terry & Jackson

Also got this really neat circa 1929 original photo of Travis Jackson and Bill Terry signed by both... Neither of their signatures is particularly tough, but I have never seen the two on a vintage photo.. Also, whomever took the photo annotated on the reverse that the photo was taken in 1929 at Newfield Park in Bridgeport (about 20 miles away)...

I think the group of cards looks good from what I've seen, but I'm not familiar with everyone's signature in that group though. This is my Phillips I got through the mail years ago....

I don't even know what to say about those Goudeys. Dumbfoundingly impressive. Is dumbfoundingly a word? My spell check doesn't like it, but it sums up the jaw dropping and drool that transpired after seeing those signed cards. So I'm sticking with it.

Default New Additions To The Collection Cy Young, Jackie Robinson & More

Hey Guys, figured I haven't posted in a while. I've added a few pieces over the past 9 months or so. Clemente, Jackie, Cy and Wagner were all guys I've had targeted on my list for quite some time (years), just wanted to share the newest additions! Now I need to find pictures and figured out framing!

Picked up a few checks in the last two months. 3 of these add to my HOF total!
