Default Here's a few

In the world of antique advertising signs porcelain is sort of king...Over the last five or so years I've developed a taste for them...only thing is antique sports related signs are rare to begin with...but porcelain ones hardly exist they're so few...However the Lord blessed me and I've gotten the ones below...I found that Slazengers’ Tennis Racquets one on an Australian website...Likely produced in England...I was able to date it to about 1903 based on the racquet...on really heavy metal plate...

 photo harvard cigars sign CH_zpsqtnsyov8.jpg

I'm pretty proud of this Collegian Clothes sign below...just got it last winter...advertising signs featuring track are very rare...So when I spotted it in a brick and mortar auction I was all over it...bid live by phone...the guy on the other end was taken back the bidding kept going up...I think he thought it would go for nothing...I kind of thought so too but somebody else spotted it and I had to pay real money...Auction house told me it had been found behind a framed picture....that explained why it was nice and bright...though slightly trimmed...

The Kuppenheimer Clothes one below was a great find I made years ago at the Rose Bowl flea...rowing signs very tough...and it's by Leyendecker...not signed but I know his work a mile away...picked it up with three other Leyendecker signs...still gotta get it fixed and framed...

Picked up this Regal Pale Beer sign at the monthly Sacramento antiques fair...turned out the seller got it at Alameda the week before...I missed it there...said a guy was selling off a bunch of beer stuff and was getting mobbed and he grabbed this...One of my favorite boxing signs...

Carlton...

That Ratsch Peerless Glass Sign is off the charts, in terms of eye appeal. Can't even think of an adjective worthy of describing it. Did you get that at one of the Nationals?

Incredible stuff!

Thanks guys for the positive comments. And I agree this is a great thread and really enjoy seeing it all.

Carlton you are correct about porcelain sports signs being rare. I should have previously mentioned it in case it wasn't seen by others when you originally posted http://sportsantiques.com/spalding_bb_flange.htm about the porcelain Spalding baseball sign I picked up. If I'm not mistaken it's the only porcelain baseball related sign that I am aware of. Gas and oil signs, of which I also collect, were more commonly made of porcelain to withstand outdoor elements.

The Old Gold Sign here is new old stock as the cardboard stand up on the back is still flat on the reverse.

Thanks all for your approval of the Ratch Peerless...Got it at the 2011 National from Kanuit...who got it from the late Tony Bussineau...Yeah it's not mint by any means...It looks like some kid scratched the reverse paint to appear they are smoking...fortunately it's faint and doesn't effect it too much...see link above for it and everything I got that show...

Default Pacific Coast League Schedule Calendars

Sunbeam, Hansen's and Jordan's Bread were sponsors for schedule calendars for a number of PCL and WIL teams from 1946-1953. Here are a few.
The 1951 Rainiers incudes one-year Rainiers skipper Rogers Hornsby and future Seattle Pilots owner Dewey Soriano.

Great stuff guys! How about some hockey! C.1960's Gordie Howe Neilson's Jersey Milk Chocolate Bars double sided sign. It's real delicate and the paper feels like a poster.

"Really" like the YooHoo ad; such great stars pictured on a product that I really enjoy.

I've seen the Rawlings Mantle advertisement before, but didn't know there were two different ones. I guess one is relatively early (due to the earlier signature usage) and the other later in career.

Since football and hockey have appeared on the thread, I think I'm OK to show this early 70s Seattle Supersonics Lenny Wilkens grocery store mobile. Measures around 4' x2 1/2'.
One of my sentimental faves, tied in to my dearly departed Sonics.

You all have inspired me to find something cool and advertising related today! Just picked this one up on ebay, it's a 1930's Lucky Strike advertising piece with an actor dressed up in his hockey gear. The idea is you bend the piece and stick two smokes through the holes to create his legs. Awesome!

I don't have anything that can hold a candle to what has been shown, but I'll keep it going...
No need to apologize for that, Mark! That sign would be at home in my collection. The turn of the century stuff is amazing but out of my budget.

Great sign again guys! I love that Orioles beer ad and the Lenny Wilkens Carnation ad. I always thought it was a shame and BS that Seattle lost the Sonics and have been rooting for the city to get a basketball team back. I thought when the Kings were threatening to leave Sacramento it would have been a fit for Seattle since they are in Kings County and they could have kept the name if they wished.

Jason...

The Mel Allen Die-cut Sign is really nifty. Is it simply advertising Yankee Tickets, or a brand of Beer? I would think the latter, but don't see any Brand Name or Logo. Great looking piece, either way!

The 3 rings is the logo for Ballantine Beer, long time sponsor of Yankees games.

Great looking piece!

Yup. Ballantine beer. I wanted to have it signed when he was still alive, but never had an opportunity. I have another large Ballantine sign for the Yankees, but it is more generic.

Wow... If that particular piece was made in this day and age, they would've played up the brand much more. I love the subtlety of it, as compared to the hard-hitting "in your face" advertising of today. Very classy!
