Default February Pickups

Some 1955 Bazooka premium inserts. I believe this is the the first year the felt emblems were available. The pennants were probably the ones advertised on the 1952 packs but the team emblem premiums from '52 were plastic. These are the same size, too lazy to correlate them!

My first pick ups of the new month...

The 4 Horseman was listed in Ex condition, but it is creased. So I might end up sending it back as I don't deal with any kind of creases. I usually toss anything that's creased in the trash, but this has a BV of $500. So don't really wanna just toss it. So will most likely end up sending it back. Anyway, here's the goods from today's mail day, which also included about 16 different 1959 Topps all-star cards.

Hit up a show, and snagged a couple nice Killebrews, a Reggie I've been after, and I finally have the Ozzie rookie. Love those sideburns.

And this is the back of the Reggie. One of my favorites, love the broken record.

Default 68 oPC

Jim, I had a similar '68 Ryan OPC. That card in any condition is not easy to find. Congrats

Thanks, when I started collecting O-Pee-Chees I knew some of the early ones were tough but it taking a lot longer to find some cards than I had anticipated.

Nice Work, Guys!

This addition of Hank Foiles leaved only 4 cards for me to complete my 1953 Topps set.

Was so excited about Brooks that I forgot this Bench. Focus is the only thing I'm not thrilled about, but I've been looking for a nicely centered PSA 5-7 for a while now.

Nice crisp looking pickups Irv...how are you looking on your 52s these days?

Picked up these 3 the other night in PWCC's auction....almost to 90%.

FWIW, the 349 card was thankfully sans the hair in the listing's image upon arrival.

Incredible! 1953 was a year with two unbelievably beautiful sets in Topps and Bowman. What an achievement to close in on the Topps set!

It's cool how that one card shows a stadium ad for Topps. I wonder if that was real or just a nice add-in buy the artist.

As a kid listening to Scully call the Dodgers on KABC in 1979, you would have thought Manny Mota was a cross between Ty Cobb and Father Time. Listening to his record-breaking pinch-hit was one of the biggest highlights of my early fandom.

I was crashing at a friend's place who mentioned he still had an old shoebox of cards from back in the day. I came across the Mota, and he was happy to give it to me.

Next to it is a French trade card from around 1910. Some of you know I also collect Isaac Newton. This isn't Newton but I stumbled across it in a Newton search and just found it too stunning to pass up. So many cards back then were works of art. A couple pickups I saw posted here reminded me that 1953 Topps had a similar artistic quality.

Nice cards, SFMS!

Glad to read you are real close to finishing off your set. I can only dream.

I have slowed down considerably since last November when I purchased a new car for my wife.
With Christmas, plus a new side door and other renos, and other everyday expenses, my disposable income has pretty much been disposed of!

I still watch/look for bargains occasionally but those are few and far between nowadays.

Hopefully, once things are finished up around here, I can start banking some money again and be able to continue on, but I don't think, at this point, that it will be anything like it was last year.

Good luck finishing your set. I will be watching/looking for your new additions.
