Thanks Ryan, and congratulations. That's an amazing card. That's the difference between you and me: you get a Cobb Back, and two months later you can buy that Ruth: I get a Cobb Back and I have to live like a college student for the next two years.

Now excuse me, my Ramen Noodles are ready.

Brian L - nice Kell and Berra rookies! I love the Tip Top set, sandwiched in between WWII and the '48 Bowman sets! Lots of "earliest" cards in that set.

Oh, and I'll just pretend I didn't see the Cobb/Cobb back and Ruth rookie that were complete mic drops, which completely obliterated any chance that anyone will want to bother posting in this thread for the rest of the month. There's always next month...looking forward to the August pick-up thread already.

Not pre-war but thought the pre-war crowd might find this type card interesting. Never seen another of them. It's some kind of Dominican League issue of Matty Alou. The seller described it as being issued by an ice cream company called Poly out of Santo Domingo:

"Pickups."

Anybody else ever make something like this?

Since they're in the public domain, I used the higher res images that can be downloaded from the Library of Congress collection, and then used Zazzle.

(T-shirt just got wrinkled in shipping, looks better now)

Thanks Steven and Steve.

Regarding those T Shirts, dealer Stan at Chantilly (dont know last name, but he has great taste in vintage cards) has a 1933 Goudey Lajoie T Shirt, and I complimented him on it today. Not sure I would wear it out on a Saturday night (or even a Wednesday night), but its a great shirt/concept for a card show and especially for a dealer; lets people from far away know what kind of stuff you may have at your table.

Matt, for several years Leon had net54 t-shirts made. I have one with a D304 Cobb on it.

Jerry and Val,

Looks like I'm going to have to step it up and make more this year!

And here I thought I could get away with wearing the same ones again...

Nice Wagner, Jay!

Matthew, nice WaJo sweatshirt!

Surely it's been considered to have a t shirt with the uncut Wagner strip on the front with a pair of scissors and on the back of the shirt it stabbed in PSA 8

Is there a pic of the Wagner strip? All I've seen that I recall are pictures of the pre-Mastro Wagner already cut from the strip.

I am not aware of an image of the uncut strip if there is one it’s probably a color photocopy in some collectors archives.

I think the best way to spread the word about the current crisis in the hobby is to create a bunch of really cool T-shirts and sell them by the thousands at the national. It would not be hard to do and make a lot of money at the same time.

I've heard it said that the strip was cut way back in the 1950s.

This scarce Worch Cigar pick up from eBay might not interest any of you, but it sure excites me because William/Billy "Pinky" Hargrave was on the 1924 Senators championship team. I collect cards of all the players on this team, and picking up a scarce card of a hardly-known player excites me just as much as if I had acquired a T206 BL 460 of WaJo (well, almost as much!).

This is outside the scope of my normal baseball collecting, but Naubinway (upper peninsula Michigan) is one of my favorite places so I had to pick it up. Postmarked 1910.
