Default 1992 Donruss Elites

So I just bought 4 boxes of 1992 Donruss to build a set, 2 of each series.

Would you believe I pulled an Elite card from not one but TWO of them?

What are the odds? (not literally - please, no math). These are the only 4 boxes of this product I've ever opened, apart from maybe a couple back in 1992.

Sounds like amazing luck.

Haha, that is AMAZING. I have opened a LOT of early 90's Donruss...with the sole intent of having the experience of pulling an Elite card. I definitely could have bought one or two Elite cards on Ebay for the same amount I spent on wax packs

I didn't pull an Elite, but I did find an "instant win" wrapper once (they had a contest on the wrapper that gave away a trip as a grand prize, and then random prizes as consolation. I think it was baseball card binder or something...unfortunately it was about 20 years past the expiration )

Enjoy those Elites!

Now that is some luck! I'm still trying to pull one occasionally just for fun

I have a Maddux from the set if you're interested. Congrats on the pulls, 90s inserts were so darn special.

You've got some nice ones there.

Look like candidates for grading.

The 92's are by far the most condition sensitive Elite series. Its tough to get anything above an 8 and those are at least 9's all day long.

Very cool. Just curious, are you going for the run from 1991-1998 or only 1992? I had checked out of collecting for a while by this time so I missed these. I am rediscovering them due to this thread.

Nope - only 91 and 92, as part of my master sets of each of those years. A few years ago when new stuff became boring and it felt like I was buying the Topps set each year more out of habit or sense of obligation than for enjoyment, I cut off the new stuff cold turkey, and went back to fill in 81-92 Donruss, Fleer, Score and Upper Deck masters - I more or less collected these sets back in the day but sold them off by the mid-90s.

Reviving this old thread to report that I just got back from my LCS with a fresh, factory sealed box of 1991 Donruss ($15.00...seemed like a very fair price). I will be continuing my 30 year quest to pull an Elite out of a pack. I DEFINITELY could have purchased some off of ebay (maybe even the whole set) with all the money I've spent on boxes over the years...but that's not the point, is it?

If I remember correctly the 1991 Elites are in the same location in every box. So make sure the box is Donruss shrinked-wrapped so it is not picked thru. I can't remember the exact location though .

Well, that's a tip I wish I knew 30 years ago

Luckily for me, the box I just bought is shrink-wrapped with the Donruss factory wrapping...so I have a shot!

Although I know some of the boxes I bought over the years have not been wrapped. I didn't realize they were all in the same spot.
