Dave,
No 1961 Jimmy Fund Membership Card. Your outline is correct. I have never seen or heard of a 1961 and just took a few minutes of searching and can’t find anything that would suggest there is one. Last edited by Favara; 10-16-2020 at 09:11 PM. |

It is too bad that Billy DePalma is not on this site. He is the person who advertised for years in the back of SCD looking for rare Williams items. He was pretty nice when I met him and he worked for the Mass Turnpike Authority as a toll taker though the toll takers no longer exist. Even Ted liked him. They would have these real estate presentations at hotels in the Boston area for that development in Florida where he lived. I believe it was Islamorada. The ads would be in the Boston papers and occasionally there would be a little note that he would be appearing. It was a good chance to get something signed by him. I went to one near my house and during the presentation he came out into the hallway and saw Billy. The first words out of his mouth - "Billy, what have you got for me to sign." He then signed everything he had and then signed for me and a friend.

This picture of the great 46 team used to hang at Fenway Park-hence the spills of disgruntled fans. Approx 3 x 5 ft. Ted at upper right.

Ted Williams Display
Really enjoying all the great items in this thread!
My display includes an original unopened bottle of Ted's Creamy Root Beer (probably extra creamy at this point!); A signed replica Ted's Root Beer metal advertising sign; A signed OALB baseball; and a signed 1957 Topps card. |

Rare Ted
Cool thread with some outstanding items, enjoy checking it out. Enclosed is an uncut sheet of 1959 Fleer Ted Williams/Three Stooges what looks to be factory scrap. Being a Boston fan and s Stooges "kid", especially Larry, just couldn`t resist. Will be framing it for the hobby room soon, Thanx Dennis for making it available.

Placemat-sized 1979 issue used for teaching reading comprehension in classrooms. Guessing the color photo's a late-career shot from spring training. (Ignore my site watermark, it was best scan I could find today. :-)

The 1954 Bowman considered rare, but really isn’t. But the Hocus Focus certainly is! Thanks for posting. Did you post it on the Ted Williams collectibles Facebook page?

It seems like everything from Sears used to be endorsed by Ted Williams. I still have my Ted Williams outfielder glove that I used for years. Most of the baseball equipment with Ted's name seemed to be some of the best quality Sears sold.

Wish I owned this one
1938 Ted Williams photo from his time with the Minneapolis Millers. Love this image. Sold in RMY Auction in June 2015 for about $8,800. I have no idea who owns it, but the image is so cool that I had to share it.
I have a low grade R303 Goudey Williams that I would be willing to trade toward a V351 Williams. Not willing to sell the R303 Williams. |

I’d buy the 303 so you have the money ready when you find a 351

Thanks to the internet, many books that were once considered rare are easier to find. But I would say these three are scarcer than most Ted Williams books.

Great buy. I was bidding on that but made some recent big purchases otherwise would have gone to $1500. Awesome that it's signed by the whole team.

We have some neat stuff in this auction including a ton of items from the estate of Ted's long time Red Sox roommate Broadway Charlie Wagner.
Here's some highlights:

This Day In Sports was a feature that ran in sports sections for years. They looked like cards. I found a stack of 1960 and 1961 baseball ones at the bottom of a box of stuff I bought and decided that if someone took the effort to cut them out and save them for over 50 years the least I could do was keep them.

Love everything about this thread. I'll go ahead and add my entry. Letter purchasing from Net54, and currently resides above my office desk in a new framed setup
Written to his High School best friend Johnnie Lutz while he was playing for the Minneapolis Millers. Great letters talking about hitting his 36th HR of the season and a local marksman in Pistol shooting. I love the ending....."write more often, what's the matter, have you got a sore arm?"

....trying to identify this item....
This ring was in a large lot I recently won (the photo of Ted w/ egg is my item). Everything in the lot I won is copyrighted or dated 1961 or earlier- I mean everything- books, baseball, pen/pencil, charms, photos, other ephemera. On a couple of Facebook groups we've had some back and forth but wonder if anyone here knows anything about these rings. The other 3 pics are from the FB post someone made. Thanks for any info. you might have.
