Default What would be the correct move for Lelands for this auction?

I admit I had this on my watch list and with it coming down to the last day I took a critical look for my final call -

https://www.ebay.com/itm/36377541681...53.m1438.l2649

I collect Louis and come on...he's with Ruth.

Here's where it get's confusing and I would love the photo folks to weigh in as I have already asked Leland's to change this listing. Granted the listing change is a must for me, but I want to get opinions on what this really is.

My issue is that the auction title lists Type I, slab lists Type I.

Let's look at the actual PSA cert -

You got it in multiple places with description, Type III

But now we look at the back...muddled in confusion -

We have what looks like AP Wire notes which says Type III, We have no dates on the notes as to publishing which is confusing, We have multiple photographers stamps denoting original leaning to Type I. I guess my confusion on Type I is my lack of knowledge of Brown Brothers. Are they the photographers or a wire photo distributor?

No matter what, this needs better description or a resub to PSA for clarity.

I am leaning III still, but I am so far from a photo expert that if it was an island I'm swimming to, I just drowned a mile back.

What's the thoughts out there as to what this falls into?

The Cert and the photo do not match. I don't know how it happened, but the photo listed in the cert had a different #, and if you look at it closely, it's actually a different copy of that image.

In short, they listed the wrong paper cert with that photo.

The photo in the cert is also cropped a bit differently then the photo in the slab.

Without having it under a loupe in hand, I'd say the photo in the slab would be considered a Type 1 by most.

Right; maybe they had two of these, and sent you the wrong paper cert? The number of the paper cert and the flip don't match.

Both being from the Brown Brothers archive, the Press photo in the slab was likely their original file copy from the news service, and one with the Type III cert was probably a print they made from that file copy.

Brown Brothers did not print their own captions (slugs), that appears to be a United Press caption for what that is worth.

Absolutely.

They were really good at putting their own stamps on the back of whatever they collected for their file cabinets...regardless of where they originated from.

+1
Different cert #s on the photo
Lelands needs to specify with photo and cert # the high bidder will win will it be the Type I or the Type III

Exactly. These are two different photos 100 percent. I am sure lelands has/had both. The listing needs to specify which one you are buying and delete the other image. I assume it’s the type 1 as that is what is in the title. Unless it’s a 2 for 1 and you get both psa authenticated photos.

This is the one shown in the cert. Sold a couple weeks ago.

Guessing they just mixed up the certs when they made the listings.

Thanks for all the feedback. I did not notice the different cert numbers at all.

I did not bid due to just being uncomfortable with the item, thank you all for the information!
