It is funny you mention that, because after reading your post I went and double checked my copy of that same matchbook. It is made by the same Diamond Match Co., just not part of any set. Nice item, and there are actually other different DiMaggio Restaurant matchbooks out there. His brother, Dom, also has at least one matchbook for his restaurant that was also in San Francisco. And all of them appear to have been made by the Diamond Match Co., which was out of the San Francisco/Chico, California area. So, no surprise the DiMaggios used them to make their matchbooks to advertise their restaurants since they were local.

I have a long ways to go to get to where my 1st collection was. I need one from each distributing newspaper, of course.
Got this from Kit Young (hi Kit, if you are reading)

Do you have a picture of that panel? I have only seen two Washington Herald Greenberg's, and I have one of them.

If anyone is interested, here is a list of the Sport Stamps in the scrapbook I picked up a while back. Glued in are:
Los Angeles Examiner - Jimmy Foxx (sp) Joe Vosmik Gabby Hartnett Leon Goslin Henry Bonura Lyn Lary Sam Byrd Wes Ferrell Jess Hill John Vergez Bob Johnson Fred Fitzsimmons The Sporting News All-Stars - Luke Appling Chas Gehringer Joe DiMaggio Lou Gehrig Ben Chapman Earl Averill Rick Ferrell Bill Dickey Rip Radcliff Goose Goslin Frank Higgins Jimmy Foxx (sp) Bob Grove Schoolboy Rowe Mel Harder George Selkirk Frank Crosetti Rollie Hemsley Monte Pearson Lefty Gomez Tommy Bridges Joe McCarthy Augie Galan Billy Herman Jim Collins Joe Medwick Frank Demaree Mel Ott Gabby Hartnett Pinky Whitney Lew Riggs Leo Durocher Dizzy Dean Carl Hubbell Curt Davis Lon Warneke Ernie Lombardi Arky Vaughan Wally Berger Stu Martin Joe Moore Charley Grimm Van Mungo Also, the following are loose, not glued in: Los Angeles Examiner - Art Fletcher Charley Ruffing Lefty Gomez Monte Pearson Johnny Broaca Pat Malone Roy Johnson Bill Dickey Tony Lazzeri Frank Crosetti Frank Snyder Carl Hubbell Harry Gumpert Gus Mancuso Harry Danning Dick Bartell Travis Jackson Hank Leiber Jimmy Ripple Earl Brucker Needless to say, I won't destroy the scrapbook to get any of them out. The scrapbook is in amazing condition, and the stamps in it are perfectly trimmed. There's a wealth of other stuff from the baseball season of 1936 in it, all newspaper clippings, but obviously the Sport Stamps are what make it desirable. The loose stamps are perfect also. I'm not much on grading when it comes to cards, but this is different. I reached out to SGC over in Boca Raton, and they actually emailed and then called me. I was told I could hand-deliver the loose stamps for grading/encapsulation if I should choose to do so. I was also told that the scrapbook is most certainly valuable, and please, don't destroy it trying to get certain stamps out of it.

Thanks Jim, I added a few to my checklist . I now have over 800 Sport Stamps documented from the various newspapers. I'm sure more newspapers will continue to surface since I only found the San Francisco Examiner a week ago. If anyone can help with this project contact me . Thanks

1936 Sport Stamps getting a little love....
Nice to see the 1936 Sport Stamps (biased comment) getting a little love in REA ...even with a bit more common newspaper origins for the series. Nice looking ones, for sure. Congrats to the winner(s)....btw, these weren't my consignments.
