Default The Dallas get together of the vintage card guys....

Posted By: leon

I just got an ok from the little lady to move forward with the get together for us card guys, from the Texas area, at my house....I am thinking the first or 2nd Saturday in Dec....how does that look? Probably would not want all of everyone's families as that could get to be a little crowded...but if your significant other wants to come and talk cards that's ok by me....Probably start early and end whenever?? Any thoughts...

I may be out of town those weeks for work. If so, the weekends will be spent with the family. Otherwise, I'll try to stop by. Keep me apprised -- thanks.

Well, since I won't be going to NY (did I ever tell you the one about all of these NY'ers trying to make dinner plans?...nah, never mind) I would like to see what interest there is for the Dallas gang get together? The 2nd could be a good day? I am thinking this will be much easier than the other get together thread....as I will cook up some BBQ and have some nice beer on tap...If there is interest then we will do it...if not then we won't...it's easy......I think we could start around noon and go from there.....Lot's of stuff to do while talking cards.....I am giving free tractor lessons that day too ......oh the joy....

Leon,
Why are you ramming Dec 2nd down our throats?! We need to put that to a vote! And beer and BBQ?! We need to vote on that too!

j/k - the 2nd works for me, and put me down for a free tractor lesson too - thanks again!!!

No Luger's here, but I think Bob's is a little better anyway.

You got it...hopefully at least Scott B, Rich, and David can make it too...I know there are a few other N.Texas card guys so maybe they can make it also. I will get a hold of John E. and see if he can make it. He and I have been threatening to get together for years and he only lives in Ft.Worth....The tractor is fun but I will want you to sign a release ....... (joking)....

I will try to make it as well. Can I bring the John Deere and we can have a good ole Texas tractor pull off?

You guys are up to 14 posts and you still don't have this thing nailed down yet...if we were planning a dinner in NY, we'd have it all worked out in ten minutes!!

I doubt my illustrious thread will get to be 168 posts but it is nailed down. It's on Dec.2, 2006 (Saturday)....starting about noon...and ending whenever.....I am cooking BBQ and having many beverages. It's free for whomever wants to come over. I will give instructions to get to my house as we get closer and I get a firm number.....Depending on the weather we will be playing croquet, throwing footballs/baseballs, riding my tractor, go carting (if I get it fixed by then), maybe riding my super duper ZTR mower, playing pool and foosball....and whatever else we can do....if it gets cold we'll do a bon fire...outside, big fires are permitted where I live.....So, pretty much the same as the NY crowd....except in Texas...

Leon, you're nuts. You can't just make a decision like that. You really need to put it to a vote (notice how I am purposely adding to the Dallas get together thread) otherwise this thread might go on forever. I vote Duke's at 7 pm.

another suggestion would be to play a little Texas Hold'em if the weather is bad. Winner gets to choose one card from Leon's collection.

Hey Leon- sounds like you are going to have a really nice day, and likewise a nice group of people. We can't have bonfires or ride tractors in Brooklyn; the only thing we ever do for fun is steal hubcaps.

I think I need to put this to a vote.... OK...I vote for when and where I said, in the above post. I hear a second. All in favor (me)....all opposed (silence)....motion carries....it's on Dec. 2, Saturday...and beer, drinks, and BBQ will be served....see that was easy....

And it's passed 2-0

And I am a former New York area dealer so even us transplanted northeners have sense to listen when a decision is made

Seriously, I'm really looking forward to viewing Leon's collection or what parts of the collection that he wants to show

Rich
