My favorite card is this 1903 E107 Phillippe. Cool card because it depicts him with Louisville, one of only two in the set to do so. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Tough choices, but I vote for Satchmo.

I have more valuable cards, but this one is in the heart. I saw Gordie and Bobby Orr play a game in the old Garden late-sixties, it was a real thrill; Damn near sold this to help fund a Honus, whew.

My three favorites are all below. From the easiest to the toughest.

T206 Mathewson (dark cap). This was my first "large" purchase and has always been a favorite pose of mine.

1907 Detroit Tigers oversized team PC. How can you not love such an early image of Cobb ?

1888-1889 Elmer Foster single player Joseph Hall cabinet. This is unique and one of very few single player cabinets still surviving that were done by Joseph Hall. As an added bonus, this is the original image which was later used for Foster's N338-2 card. Anyone want to let one of those go ?

Since I love the rare and unusual.

I know its not attractive, or a great player, but this is one of my favorite.... at least until I see another one like it.

Frank, what's the story behind that card? It looks like instead of being packed inside the bread package it was probably tied to the twist tie. No other examples have ever surfaced?

For the umpteen-billionth time, I'll post this scan. If I define "favorite" as the card I would be most adamant about keeping, this is it. I have other cards I like a ton, but they could all probably be replaced if need be. This one couldn't - nor do I think I could find anything very close. 19th C. Actual female players. Labeled as a team with players, so to me it's more like a card than a plain cabinet photo.

And actually, one of my favorite cards is my T206 Schaefer Detroit that I've had for years now. Such a playful look on his face - like someone just enjoying the game. But I can only pick one, so here goes:

Shown at about 3/4 size. Actual size is more like 4x6 or so.

OK, OK... so it's not pre-war. But it is a good story.

I was six years old in 1977 and lived in Philly. Needless to say, I loved the Phillies, especially Greg Luzinski, who could absolutely crush the ball. So one day in the summer of '77 my dad walked me up to 7-11 and I got some packs of cards. I sat on the steps in front of our townhouse while he was up on the porch with our neighbor, and what do you think I pulled from one of those packs? In all honesty, I don't think I've ever been so excited about anything in my life (sometimes I wish I could be six again).

I used to "rate" the baseball players on my cards then. I would write a number on the back of the card - a "1" if the player was awesome (Luzinski), a "2" if he was pretty good (Ron Cey), a "3" if he sucked (any Mariner or Blue Jay).

When my dad got into the hobby in 1983, my cards were "upgraded" as we bought collections. I never thought much about not having my "original" cards anymore - condition and quantity became king.

Fast forward to around 1991. I was a junior in college, working in my dad's baseball card shop 20 hours a week. I didn't collect much any more. Girls (or at least one particular girl) and school seemed more important. But one afternoon I was bored and decided to take a trip down memory lane by looking through our big box of '77 Topps commons. I saw a lot of familiar names, but I broke out into a smile when I ran across a Luzinski. Then I flipped it over... and on the back, written in the hand of a six year old kid, was a number "1". I had found my old card.

I can promise you one thing - you'll never see this card on eBay. It will be with me until the day I die.

Jeff

Great story, Jeff O!! I remember how a friend of mine and I got on an elevator in St. Louis one summer in the 70s, Luzinski and Bowa were on there already. All of us were going for pre-game, BP for them, beer for us.

I think this card might be my favorite. A first card for a Hall of Famer.

Frank.

It is a Real Photo Postcard - and the image is pretty awesome.

I have a whole bunch of my stuff in a safedeposit box... but when I get that card out, I will shoot you off an email if I see who published the postcard.

Your's is really cool. I never saw one with the tiger in the background.

Probably not my favorite in terms of aesthetics, but I enjoy the rarity surrounding it.
