Default what do you think this card would fetch at auction?

I've got an 1888 Allen Ginter of James Ryan graded a 6 by Beckett. I really wish Jimmy Ryan would get into the Hall of Fame already. Guy had 2500 hits and a 300 lifetime average in the stone age of baseball. Anyway, I'm thinking about whether or not I want to just hang onto it or possible sell or trade it.

You could check vintage card prices and see what they have sold for and then decide if you want to sell it or not.

That's a good idea but I'm way lazy. I paid 375 for it raw and then just had it graded. Being that I'm only 375 in, I'm sure I'll at the very least double my money. Really I'm just torn between selling it or trading it for a card of equal value. That way it would be like paid 375 for whatever upgraded card I get for it.

A PSA 6 N89 Ryan sold for $650 on EBAY last year. Beckett prices are usually lower than PSA on pre-war stuff.

I've got an 1887 Allen Ginter Jack Glasscock also graded a 6. One of them sold on ebay a few months ago for 900. I would have thought I could get more for an 1888, especially since Ryan should be in the Hall of Fame.

I don't know how well or not this relates, but I've watched the 1887 A&G Comiskey and its history in PSA 6 is:

Sloate Auction October 2006 $1922
Lelands August 2006 $1960
Mastro March 2006 $2335

for what little its worth...

The 1887 N28 set has six Hall of Famers [out of ten cards] and seems more popular than the N29 set [which only has one HOFer, Buck Ewing.]

True, but there are only 6 or so cards in the 1888 set and the 1888 set is a lot harder to find than the 1887 set. I just would have thought it would be in a higher demand with such a high grade than an 1887.
