What is your opinion on lot # 851 & 854....
Any clue what each will close around? Wondering if I will even stand a chance that's all. Thanks in advance.... |

Someone I know said he might bid on lot # 196. Why is it so low price so far ? Will he have much competition for it ?

All I know is, I am seeing cards with VCP average selling prices of $2,500 selling for $500. Another card with VCP average of $1,500 is currently $600.....I could go on and on!! As a buyer, I'm loving it!! As a consignor, I am hating it, and doubt I will ever consign anything else to them ever again.....

Those $$$ will all move up this week. Take in consideration that the National just finished and now everyone will be back this week. During the National Ebay does about 30% of what it usually does during the week.

Ahhhhh!!! So that is why my VCP average $80 PSA 9 sold on Ebay last night for only $30!!!!! Note to self = NEVER end cards when the Nationals is ending!

Leon and Yogi are correct-- "It ain't over till it's over." To start, from Christies to eBay to the Wausau Community Pool Fundraising Auction, the day with the most overall bids is the last day.

Speaking of flipping....I am noticing that the majority of the cards in the current Memory Lane auction have been sold in the Dec '08 Memory Lane auction....if one were to flip, shouldn't they wait longer than 7 months, and shouldn't they pick a totally different auction house altogether??? I see some Red Mans someone paid alot of money for that aren't anywhere near the Dec '08 selling price....seems like a good way to lose your shirt.....

Perhaps they needed a tax write-off. |

Why is it that only the great guys with allegations of fraud in their pasts think that all the other shady guys are great guys?

Boy can it ever be frustrating to run an auction! And to think not too long ago those guys stayed up all night, until 9 AM the next morning to make sure all collectors got their bids in. Besides being the fastest growing auction house in the hobby they very well could be the greatest too. |

Frederick Foto cards
I am absolutely NOT starting a grading company bashing thread here but I do wish PSA would have graded those Frederick Fotos correctly. I spoke with a gentleman, from Memory Lane, on the phone about them and I don't think they should have gotten numerical grades (at a minimum)....Too bad to.....

Well this is the same great company who got PSA to recertify cards that did not sell in a previous auction so they could be sold in a subsequent auction in an attempt to not be noticed as repeats.

You gotta be kiddin .....
Are you saying that the Great Guys aren't aware of a flock of turkey buzzards perched on a long branch just waiting for them to make a mistake???

Joe, the rantings of a few folks on a message board or two does not affect the great guys one bit.

So .. ?
So, if someone were skeptical, what might a skeptic assume?? Good Guys Auction House, inc has consignors who auction off cards, then cards appear again.
- Good Guys auctions cards out of inventory and have hidden reserve and keep auctioning until card is sold to bonafide buyer? or - Original consignor been paid and Good Guys are high bidder and now cardboard owner trying to unload this new inventory? or - Consignor wants certain "reserve" and Good Guys do them a solid and keep auctioning with consignor still as owner until price objective is met? or - ???? what would a conspiracy theorist think? |

Not 'good' guys -- 'great' guys. Big difference.
