OT: The advantages of having your own television show.
You can get $142.50 for a Hackensack High School pennant in rotten shape.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=#ht_500wt_922 Or how about $500 for a pin that routinely sells for 1/10th that price http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...T#ht_500wt_922

Ah the power of TV. Best of luck to them, I love the show!

Don't you think that the Hackensack pennant is worth that price after it's autographed by Mike and Frank? Seriously I love the show but would never consider bidding on anything they are selling.

I absolutely love the show too...I'm just stunned that people are willing to pay 10x the going rate for an item just because it was on TV or owned by the American Pickers.

Saw the episode where they bought the pennants. They got a stack of miscellaneous pennants for $25.00. Mike told the woman that he would be lucky to get $5 to $10 a piece for them.

In the real world he would have been lucky to get $5 to $10 apiece for them.

For as much as they have done for the antique collecting world, Good for them for getting paid. Their television success has really amped up interest in collecting which is vital for people to understand the importance of not throwing away items and researching them. I cant speak for Frank but I can tell you that Mike is a standup guy. Their shop is a lot smaller than you think it would be as well and their shop prices are failry reasonable.

One of my family member's friends went to their place in Iowa and said it was a little disappointing. It really is a small scale operation.

I wonder how many baseball cards or how much memorabilia they find and pass up because it isn't mechanical or advertising? Sure, they bought that Dizzy Dean piece (because it was advertising) but in another recent episode, they were in a barn loft in New York and one of the guys said look at this. He was holding what he described as an old baseball glove.
He didn't look at it very closely or pay much attention to it and then just threw it back down. Who knows how old that glove was, who made it or what palyer model it might have been. Yes, it might have been in bad condition but it could have been a glvoe someone on this board might have liked to add to their collection. However, since the "pickers" dissed it, the owners might think it has no value and thus might just throw it away (if they clean out that barn). David |

It'd be worth a trip to Iowa just to see Danielle 's tatoos!
