Default Anson family in the Hotel business ?

I picked up a Civil War CDV with the back stamp from:

Anson's
Metropolitan Hotel

could this be from Cap's family tree ?

That would be Rufus P. Anson a fairly highly regarded photographer of the mid to late 19th century. It's possible he is a cousin of some degree to Cap, Rufus is from Dutchess county, NY as was Cap's Grandfather.

Barry,
That is correct, his father Henry was the founding father of the city. His father was also born in Dutchess county, NY.
