Default Help Wanted 2 month opportunity

To celebrate our 60th birthday and our 35th year as an advanced collector,
we have decided to privately catalog our entire collection (no values or prices will be included)

It is our hope to create an outstanding work of memorabilia history which we can publish. It is our intent that the profits be shared with the fund we have established at NY Presbyterian Medical Center.

We have identified an internationally respected photographer who has published several books on sports memorabilia. We will require the services of one or two professionals to catalog the collection.

Ideally, the selectee will have an encyclopedic knowledge of baseball history, a deep understanding of the rare baseball card market, and be familiar with related memorabilia ranging from player-endorsed sheet music to baseball advertising, rare books, baseball post cards etc. Knowledge of Negro League baseball will be especially helpful.

Finally, the selected candidate will have impeccable reputation for integrity, be willing to sign a strict NDA and hold a degree in English or History from a world class educational institution. Fee negotiable.

Please send a confidential e mail expressing your interest and a cv to
bdorskind@dorskindgroup.

Thanks

Bruce Dorskind

Default Help Wanted

I think a help wanted section might be cool. There are certainly a lot of collectors who would like to have a little website support; and, plenty who would like to offer them website support.

This is how you celebrate. The clock is ticking faster. Shower, floss and get your butt down to the Meat Packing district! Then, show some photos of your new collection. CANT take it with you. Oh yea, Happy Bday

I think I've got it. I worked on a similar project with Bruce a number of years ago, and I'm a subway ride away. Look forward to seeing all his new material.

Barry......be sure there's healthcare included........you don't want to be subjected to Obamacare.....also be sure the NDA doesn't preclude you sharing all the fun with us here sometime about your experience.....from what we've seen of Bruce's collection, it should be fun.....

Hmm... I have the next 2 months open... However, while I do have an extensive knowledge of baseball, I wouldn't categorize it as encyclopedic...

and then there's the degree issue... I have a Bachelor's/Master's in Spanish/Education so my candidacy is out the door, lol.

I wish you the best of luck, as this project seems pretty sweet.

Barry--If you get the job it will be the first time BU was ever classified as a world class institution (or Bruce relaxed his criteria).

I didn't actually graduate from BU. I got my B.A. from C.W. Post and my M.A. from NYU.

Message board politics aside, I would love to see Bruce's collection. As someone on the lower end of the collecting spectrum, I spend less than 2k a year on cards, I get great enjoyment from flipping through auction catalogs, pick-up threads and the like. If and when the catalog is published be sure to post the information here so I can pick up a copy.

Bruce, personally, I haven't always agreed with what you say or how you say it, but if you are really as charitable as mentioned then you are a better man than most. As someone who lost his father earlier this year at the far to young age of 52 I not only respect the fact that the profits will benefit a hospital, (the hard work of medical personnel gave us two years with him we probably shouldn't have got), but I also condemn the comments and snickers about death that have flowed from both sides in the past and present.

Happy birthday and best wishes for good health. I look forward to reading your publication and admiring the collection.

Happy Collecting
Steven Finley

When Bruce's book comes to fruition, everyone will get a chance to see his collection. I'll try to speed that process along.
