Default *** Near-set(??) of nine 1928 w553s w/ Gehrig in Goodwins auction...NO bids yet!!

Been putting this group together the past few years. These cards come around very infrequently and many of these have some of the tougher color variations. If anyone out there looking to start a new project set that is both attractive and loaded with HOFers, this might be a nice one for you.

With some of the new information that is out there, it appears that there's likely only 10 cards in this set as opposed to 15 as originally thought. This puts this group as a nearset just missing the Ruth for completion! More info on this new discovery is here -

On the whole, the group is still attractive looking. No ugly cards here but a couple are lower grade. The AUT cards seem to be some of the nicest ones as there are a couple that appear to be in NRMT condition but were only awarded an AUT holder.

I also have a 10th w553, a 2nd Cochrane in VG/EX with a pinkish tint that I'd consider adding into this deal if anyone is interested in a color variation.

Gehrig (red) PSA 1 - wrinkling on back...great looking on front w/ a tiny pinhole. Scarce red variation
Grove PSA AUT - some fraying to the edges and minor wrinkling
Simmons PSA AUT - terrific looking card...sharp corners, no wrinkling
Frisch (blueish tint) SGC AUT - terrific looking card...sharp corners, no wrinkling
Cochrane (blueish tint) SGC 20 - mild corner rounding and some wrinkling
ODoul (blueish tint) SGC 10 - VG on front w/ scraping on back
Hornsby (blueish tint) SGC Aut - terrific looking card...sharp corners, no wrinkling
Goslin SGC 10 - offcentered top to bottom, wrinkling...small stains on back
Grimes (blueish tint) SGC 30 - tiny tear at top, scrapes on back

Currently this lot is in Goodwin's auction -

Bumping this thread as it appears this group is "falling through the cracks" a bit. This is an attractive near set of cards loaded with HOFers and some tough color variations. Individual cards are not always the easiest to come by. That dark red Gehrig variation in particular is one that that might not appear again for a good long while. The auction ends in just a bit over a week on the 15th. Thanks in advance for any interest!
