Default Photos of players wearing bow ties

Like many of you all, I have bounced back and forth on what I collect.

HOF rookie cards? Sure.

Signed HOFer cards? Even better.

'39 HOF induction autos? Why not!?!

Based on budget, displayability, and personal interest, I've moved to something else over the past few months. And that is original/Type I photos of baseball personalities wearing a bow tie. As I wear a bow tie to work every day, this really resonates with me. So on this thread, I'll post my pickups. I have a few that I need to take pics of, but I'll get them up asap and continue to update this thread.

IF YOU HAVE or FIND A PHOTO OF HARMON KILLEBREW, IN A BOW TIE (non-tuxedo), PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I'm interested in most other HOF and/or STARS as well. I'm not looking for pre-tied tuxedo ties but real, hand-tied bow ties.

The first one I bought (two years ago) is a great photo of Branch Rickey.

Tris Speaker in the 50's (he's kind of covering up his bow tie, but it's there).

Here is the most recent one I got, Ty Cobb in '58.

This is awesome.. love that Cobb. Are you going to post a photo of yourself with a bow tie on? We need to know where this passion originated do we not??

Alright... Here is an after work pic of me at a local fundraiser last month while still wearing my work attire. Pic was taken by a local news photog.

Another Branch Rickey for you. I'm trying to resist the urge to go digging through my old scans looking for bowties, but will keep you in mind should I run across any photos in the future

This just came in today. I saw this one on the forum awhile back and recently made a trade to acquire it. Lou Gehrig sporting a bow tie in a great photo.

I also picked up another Cobb really cheap yesterday (thanks for the heads up, Dave!).

Lance - I have some more of Rickey as well, he's a pretty easy one to find but still one of my favorites in a bow tie. Always a lot of emotion on his face. And please DO keep me in mind!

Phil - That photo of Spoke is great. A bit more dignified than the one I have of him.

HTBB- If you ever decide to sell that, I hope you will PM me first. What a great piece! I can trade you a photo of Ruth with a big fish he just caught, but he's not wearing a bow tie.

Also, Phil was nice enough (unprompted, I might add) to offer me his Speaker photo for what he had in it. So, I took him up on it. Here it is, in case you missed it on the last page.

My pleasure. Happy that its going to someone that will undoubtably appreciate it more than I.

Default A few Bow Ties

All are from a group of photos that came from the Sporting News Collection. They are all baseball related. If you are interested in any of them, PM and I can get you more photos and descriptions.

Thanks,

Jeff

I wonder if Slidewell Bows retained any baseball players? I know they hired boxers to promote bowties and also NY Giants broadcaster Steve Ellis but I've never seen a baseball player piece

Hey Jarrod. I no longer own any photographs sporting Ballplayers with Bow Ties. But I was able to dig up a scan of the last one I had. Hope you like it.

Jimmy- That's a great Gehrig. I'm lucky to have one Gehrig of him in a bow tie, it's one of my favorites. But that one... nice.
