Default Early Bat or something else?

I recently picked this up at an antique mall and am not sure what it is. It measures 30.5 inches and is 2 inches wide at end of barrel. The center reads " Compliments of Ewing Clothing Co Lincoln Nebraska" Only thing I was able to find about this company was an online business directory from 1891. Just wondering if it might be a youth bat or a salesman bat or something else entirely. Thanks for any help or comments provided. Brandon

Brandon,

It appears to be an advertising bat based on the length and barrel diameter. Its weight would be the the final clue. If it is light I'd say ad bat definitely.

It's a nice one though, unusual to see one with the "ring" that long.

Thanks for the help John. Its definitely light weight. Would 1890's be an accurate guess to its age? Or is it difficult to tell on advertising bats? Brandon

Brandon,

I would place it at around 1890 or even a tad earlier.

John
