Default Bat collectors - old Cooper professional model bats

I recently came across a 1986-1992 Cooper professional model bat. The bat had the correct specifications for the player, and the correct jersey number of the player on the knob.
but when I examined the signature stamping, a team name had been rubbed off, and in its place, a player's name was branded/pressed/lasered in. The player's name was in block letters. So instead of the signature reading "Blue Jays", a generic team ordered bat, the bat read "Derek Jeter". It was a very good fake.
but there are a couple of items that were off and that you can look for. First, the bottom of the knob was painted and then a player jersey number written over (so perhaps the paint was covering another jersey number). Second, the signature branding was not stamped like a Cooper of the era but rather somehow engraved. Third, the font of the block lettering was off. Fourth, the positioning of the re-brand was off-center. Fifth, you could still make out, in the right light, a very light "Blue Jays" underneath.
stamped bats, which are more easily worn-off, are vulnerable to alteration. it is not surprising that Derek Jeter was the attempt. a heads up, particularly to Derek Jeter collectors.
