Default WTB - 1922 Neilson's Chocolate Type 2 Cards

Greetings all,

I am collecting the 1922 Neilson's Chocolate Type 2 set and have a few cards to locate. If you are looking to sell a few, or several cards, just let me know. I am looking for graded or ungraded commons, HOFers, or upgrades to my existing cards. I'm not seeking a Babe Ruth card tho...Thanks, Mario

I have a Wally Schang with offset type on the back. Only one ever graded as such by SGC. It has been graded EX 60 and the flip mentions the offset type. Let me know if you are interested.

Hello Tom,

We had spoken earlier this year and I almost bought the card from you. I ran across another (with a couple other cards too) Schang with the same offset. I know this was an ULTRA rare copy, but I got a great deal.

I attached copies of my SGC 60 (PSA5-EX). Very nice card; both the front and rear pics are included below uploadfromtaptalk1410133752411.jpguploadfromtaptalk1410133764494.jpg

Ok. Glad you got one. Also the image will help show what the offset type is far better than me trying to explain it from memory.

Good luck filling those holes!

From all the Neilson cards I have (approx. 75), this is the only card with the offset error. I don't know why this has the printing error, but definitely a cool card. I've only heard of our 2 copies since SGC and PSA does not catalog errors for the 1922 Neilson Type 2 set.

Hello Mario,

Hope you dont mind the on-going discussions (at least it keeps bumping your threads) - just curious if there was a particular reason you are going for Type 2s over Type 1s (or both)? Love the sets (see avatar for proof) myself, but I only collect 1 player - Rigney.

No problem. I ran across both the Type 1 and Type 2 Neilson cards approx. a year and a half ago. I bought both cards (Oeschger & Maranville) and the rest is history. Having lived most my life in Minnesota, I always had an infatuation with OPC cards and this Neilson's set is basically the archaic version of Topps OPC set of the 70s-today. Since I don't collect hockey cards, this fit the bill. Also, I preferred the feel of the Type 2s. I don't collect the set for profit; I enjoy the chase of finding rare cards. Thus, I don't mind sharing my story and taking time to amass all 120 cards (assuming I can find them all!!).

Default Bump...

Still looking for anyone who may be selling any of the 1922 Neilson's Chocolate Type 2 cards. It has been difficult to find the Walter Johnson, but I've got plenty more to find.

Let me know if you can help. Best, Mario

Default Found some!

Mario, I was at a *very* small show this afternoon and I saw a small stack of Type 2 Nielson's

Gharrity
Wilbur Cooper
Danforth
Syl. Johnson
Lavan
Pillette
Wambsganss (he is probably keeping that one)

These are G/VG I estimate.
I know the dealer , so if you want me to get scans or cell phone pics, whatever, I can ask him. He marked them about low Beckett ( I know that's irrelevant to these cards or most cards actually, but he makes decent deals to move his cards)

Anyway, I thought of you and this post when I saw them.
Let me know via PM if you are interested.

I'm almost at 100 of 120 cards for the set. I'm still looking for quality Type 2 cards. I'm especially seeking any of the following: Burleigh Grimes, Waite Hoyt, Walter Johnson, or Ross Young cards.

I am also looking for several upgrades. Let me know as I do have duplicates of Roush & Hooper cards too!

I have a Clemons if you need it.

I also have an ungraded Joe Hauser, but as a native Minnesotan myself, I am not ready to part with "Unser Choe".

BTW, can you tell me if: A) the Schang is only found with the offset back, i.e. no "corrected" version and; b) whether others from the set have been found with the offset back? Just curious.

Well, I do have a Clemons; however, it is not in that condition (PSA 1.5). I'd be interested in hearing a price for it tho!! Regarding the Hauser, I have one of those in PSA 4. Nice card and I read he was a great player that wasnt noticed in a bleak market (love the MN state!!).

Regarding your questions, I only known of the Schang with the offset. I havent found one without an offset on back (the pic of mine is shown above). As far as other errors, I have several with 'reverse prints' on the backside. Off memory, that would be the Dauss, Schang, Uhle, and Kelly (HOF).

I'm looking for a few 1922 Neilson's Chocolate Type 2 cards. If any members have any, and would like to sell (or possibly trade), just let me know. Note - numbers added as reference. Unlike the Type 1 set, the Type 2 cards are not numbered.

22. T.P. (Pat) Collins
29. Hank DeBerry
42. Tom Griffith
43. Burleigh Grimes (HOF)

90. Charles Robertson
95. Walter Schmidt

I didn't include the Ruth as this may be my last card for the set. Hope anyone can help
