Default Heritage prices last night--what do you think?

Wonder about reactions to some of the prices. Of course, I only followed a few areas. But SGC t206 seems to get weaker all the time--dozens of SGC 84s, Sovereign, many top graded etc. and generally went for 384 or 424 or some such.... Am I nuts or have SGC t206s been fading badly in recent months?

On the other hand, amazing prices for two t206 SLs PSA 6 ...$1200 to $1500...I presume these are record for any of them....any idea why?

T3s seemed to be very strong--again, if PSA.

Sporting Life m116 cards PSA 8s faltered--some of the blues were "estimated" at 1200 to 1500 and went for 1/3 to 1/2 of that...

CJ 14s PSA craze seems to be--depending on your outlook--sadly or happily over...at least judging from this. Or maybe just too many good cards to choose from--so most of them suffered? It seems like the HOF and truly rare ones did well but the commons in PSA 5 and 6 that were going through roof just a few months ago settled back to earth (even a 7 or two). Maybe just in this case, or it was just that one of the guys who was bidding up these cards decided to sell most of them, so he is no longer bidding!!!

The old judge prices that Heritage got last night were incredible. This is a market that goes through cycles and it appears that the elevator is now going up. The Wrights went for amazing prices, even though the images were not very nice. I can't even imagine what a high grade Wright with a nice image would go for--perhaps six figures. Even mid grade commons were going for close to $400 after fees and taxes.

I thought my bid of over 19k for an SGC 3.5 52 mantle was pretty strong but was outbid by 2k.

True. Maybe some frustrated 52 Topps Mantle bidder decided this card was just as good, and a lot cheaper!

The Mantles blew me away. The 52 in 5 at 57k, the 7 at 200, even that Bowman 52 at 10k and the 59T in 8 at 6500.

Loved seeing that SGC 2 Gehrig RC break 10k all in! I love Lou.

Looked to me like there were some great deals to be had on 1914 Cracker Jacks. Of course, that's all I was following! 😏

Cards with dead on centering seem to be bringing in a nice premium as of lately.

Virtually all of the cards that I was tracking (20+ lots) went at or above "estimate". I know that estimates can be totally off, but it is rare when almost everything is beyond the estimate. I won nothing. Seems like the market (at least in the things that I track) is strong.

The glut of high grade E98s on the market is starting to affect prices. PSA 7s and 8s which are numbers unheard of from 1980-2013 have really dropped. I see E98s on ebay from the Black Swamp Find still trying to get pre- BSF prices and sitting there collecting cyber dust while last night the BSF cards in Heritage went for 1/2 to 1/3 previous prices. The color variations not found in the Find- blue and orange, are climbing but the reds especially and greens are tumbling. The few players who weren't included in the find in any color or the ones that were found in less than a handful still hold strong, like Matty, Kling and Walsh.

I think we all predicted this when the Find occurred. Low and mid-grade E98s hold fairly strong but the razor edge beauties have tumbled. Look at how strong the E94s still are, for example, which have never had a "find."

Default E98 Blue Cobb

Dave it did go cheap, but it had paperloss on the back. Would've been a 20 or 30 with SGC. Bob, definitely some decent prices on blues & oranges, especially on the Walsh. But too much dilution on them in this auction and in general. Even with the Find, the E98s are still relatively rare, and these prices they've been going for are stupid cheap given their condition imo.

You're not nuts Greg, it's SGC, period. I have been saying this for years with most people arguing with me. Most people on this forum favor them over PSA, but at the end of the day, it's not even close as far as value goes. Look at my post of 3 SGC 88's, and compare my sale prices with comps of PSA 8's.... To be more specific, the 3 SGC 88's I have for sale can be bought for $3900 total. The last, and very recent, PSA 8's of these cards sold for a total Of $24,000!! Yes, the SGC 88's are incredible values, but you see were I'm going with this...I'm talking specifically about T206s, that's what I know....

I actually thought the 1925 Exhibits Gehrig (Link) looked somewhat blue-ish as opposed to the gray, so thought this card could have been mislabeled and should be a 1926 Exhibits instead (very rare in it's own right, but not his RC). Hard to say and might not be known unless the card is in hand.

The Mantle on ebay for 125k is not a PSA 8, it's a PSA 8 OC. That's the equivalent of a PSA 6. It's not a 125k card. If it was centered like that or slightly better but didn't get the OC designation it would be a 300k + card in my opinion.

Centering is all the rage and can exponentially increase value when it is great. I am one of the centering bigots.
