One of my personal favorite Cubs from my college days..."Kessinger to Beckert to Banks...", as Vince Lloyd and Lou Boudreau used to say. Sad to see him go.

ALL of us Cub fans loved Glenn Beckert back in the day. He was so good and so consistent. When Cub management broke up the team, Beckert was sent to San Diego. It was a stab in the heart, when players as Beckert were sent away.

Thanks for sharing your bounty of rare Glenn Beckerts. I also own the exquisite 3" pin with Glenn's studio portrait; it has an unusual matt surface. When I saw that in a vendor's booth, under the Wrigley Field grandstands in about 1971-72, I admired it greatly, and paid the hefty price. Bought Ernie Banks and Fergie Jenkins, too. Put each one in their baggie, and they've been preserved to this day. Every few years, I take them out and relish their visage. They were the nicest stadium pins I ever saw in my life.

Must go. ---- Brian Powell
