Default 2- 1971 Topps Baseball Starter Sets (Now Breaking Up)

The description below more or less describes the extra 1971 Topps Baseball I have for sale. I just traded some of the high numbers for cards on my want list, so I guess I'll continue to break them up as collectors need.

I pretty much updated my 1971 Topps Baseball set to where I can live with it. This left me with over 1,200 extras, enough to make 2 starter sets. Both are mid-grade collections that someone who has like-cards could reasonably complete one or both. The lots could also be broken down and sold individually, where money could be made

The main issue that may bother some collectors is centering. My 71 set is not spot-on in terms of centering. If I were to do it all over again, I would have placed more importance on this aspect, but I still favor sharper corners. Also, I went after the stars before anything and found what I needed/liked before going after the rest of the set, so there won't be the major HOF players in either group.

I will give a description of specific cards in both lots; if someone would like a greater description or photos, I would be glad to send it via a private message.

All of the cards are unslabbed, but for ease of description, I will use the numeric grade and any qualifier.

Starter set #1 overall all condition vg/ex (4) with some cards either better or worse. Here are the amount of single cards per series:

Series 1- 90 cards: #26 (5 o/c); 45 (4); 54 (5.5 MK, but not written on); 61 (4); 63 (2 crease); 64 (4 m/c); 65 (3); 66 (5 m/c); 68 (5 o/c); 70 (4.5); 72 (5 o/c); 83 (6 m/c); 95 (ex o/c); 114 (5.5)

Series 2- 73 cards: 133 (6); 135 (4); 140 (6 o/c); 161 (vg/ex m/c); 183 (4.5 m/c); 193 (4); 197 (5 o/c); 199 (vg/ex stain on back); 200 (4 o/c); 201 (4); 206 (6 unmarked); 210 (5); 250 (2 creased)

Series 3- 58 cards 263 (2 scratches); 265 (4); 270 (5 MK); 275 (4.5 o/c); 289 (4.5); 290 (5.5); 308 (4); 324 (4); 328 (4); 329 (4); 335 (6 mk); 350 (5 o/c); 352 (4 mk); 357 (4); 370 (4.5); 385 (4.5); 386 (4); 388 (4 o/c); 393 (5)

Series 4- 81 cards: 439 (5); 442 (3); 445 (7 o/c); 462 (4); 465 (4); 477 (3 crease); 499 (3 unmarked); 522 (1 crease/wear)

Series 5- 72 cards 524 (4); 529 (4); 536 (5 mk); 559 (3 crease); 584 (7); 585 (6 o/c); 595 (5 o/c); 605 (4); 608 (4 o/c); 612 (6 o/c); 615 (5 o/c); 633 (6); 641 (5)

Series 6- 76 cards 646 (5 m/c); 646 (5 o/c); 649 (3 wear); 652 (1.5 damage); 654 (5 print mark o/c); 655 (5); 656 (5 o/c); 658 (4); 659 (6); 662 (4 o/c); 669 (4); 671 (4); 672 (5 mk); 673 (1.5 damage); 674 (6 o/c); 680 (4); 683 (3 crease); 686 (4); 688 (1 creases); 693 (4 o/c); 700 (authentic m/c); 715 (5); 719 (4); 722 (4); 723 (5 o/c); 725 (vg); 728 (6 o/c); 731 (6); 733 (3 crease); 734 (4 o/c); 740 (5.5 o/c print bubble); 742 (ex o/c); 743 (2.5 corner wear); 744 (5.5 o/c); 745 (5.5 o/c); 748 (4.5); 750 (3 crease); 751 (2 creases)

The images beginning at the top and continuing until Earl Weaver generally reflect the majority of this group of cards.

Starter set #2 overall condition would be vg-ex (4) to ex-mint (6) with some cards either better or worse. Here is the breakdown (no duplication):

Series 1- 115 cards #1 (vg crease); 2 (4); 3 (5 o/c); 16 (4.5 o/c); 26 (6.5 m/c); 30 (4 m/c); 45 (4); 50 (5.5); 54 (5 o/c unmarked); 58 (4 m/c); 62 (4); 63 (4); 64 (5); 65 (4.5 o/c); 66 (5 o/c); 66 (5 o/c); 68 (6 o/c); 69 (4); 70 (4); 83 (4); 91 (5); 95 (5 o/c); 100 (4.5 o/c); 110 (5); 114 (6); 117 (vg crease); 123 (4 o/c unmarked)

Series 2- 90 cards: 133 (4.5); 135 (5 m/c); 140 (6); 161 (ex unmarked); 183 (4); 188 (4 o/c); 195 (4) 196 (5); 197 (4); 198 (4); 201 (5 o/c); 202 (4); 210 (5); 220 (5 o/c); 230 (4.5 o/c); 231 (4.5); 233 (6 o/c); 237 (4.5 o/c); 245 (4 o/c); 248 (4)

Series 3- 94 cards: 264 (4); 265 (5); 270 (4 o/c); 275 (5 o/c); 279 (4 o/c); 290 (6.5); 295 (4); 300 (4); 310 (4); 325 (4.5); 326 (5.5 o/c); 327 (4); 328 (4.5); 329 (4.5); 330 (5 o/c); 332 (4.5); 335 (5); 336 (5 o/c); 340 (4.5); 350 (6); 351 (5.5 o/c); 355 (4); 370 (4); 380 (4); 385 (5); 386 (6); 388 (5); 390 (4); 393 (6.5 o/c)

Series 5- 83 cards: 524 (6); 529 (5 m/c); 526 (4); 543 (4); 554 (4); 559 (3.5); 572 (6 o/c); 573 (5 m/c); 574 (5); 575 (4); 580 (4); 582 (4); 585 (6 m/c); 594 (6 stain); 595 (4); 598 (6 m/c); 605 (5); 608 (4 m/c); 609 (4); 612 (4); 615 (5); 631 (4.5); 639 (4.5); 641 (4)

Series 6- 54 cards: 644 (5 o/c); 645 (6 m/c); 646 (5 o/c); 648 (5 o/c); 650 (4 o/c); 651 (6 o/c); 652 (6 o/c); 653 (6 m/c); 656 (6 o/c); 658 (4); 659 (5 o/c); 661 (4.5 mk); 662 (4); 665 (5); 666 (4 m/c); 669 (4.5 o/c); 671 (6 m/c); 673 (6 o/c); 679 (5 o/c); 680 (5); 683 (5 o/c); 687 (4); 692 (4.5); 693 (4); 700 (vg crease); 704 (6 m/c); 705 (4 m/c); 706 (4); 708 (4.5); 709 (4 o/c); 714 (5); 715 (6 o/c); 717 (7); 722 (5 o/c); 723 (3 m/c. mk); 724 (4); 728 (6); 735 (4 o/c); 736 (4); 737 (6 o/c); 739 (5 stain); 744 (4.5); 745 (5 m/c); 748 (4.5 o/c); 749 (4); 751 (6.5 o/c)

The images beginning with Billy Cowan and continuing until the end generally reflect the condition of this group. The Boog Powell (gone) does have a minor crease on the middle right side, but 98% of these cards will not have any creases or wrinkles.

My want list varies, but what I'd like to trade for, if possible, are cards to complete my 1970 Topps Baseball set. I'm missing 140 cards, including the #660 Bench. The bulk of my missing cards start at 455 and continue to 713- 111 cards worth. I am collecting them in vg/ex+ condition for the more expensive cards and the singles in ex to ex-mint for the more common numbers. I also have over 200 singles for 1971 Topps and as well for 1972, both years include semi and high-number cards.

Also, I'm looking for the 1973 Topps Baseball complete set in vg-ex condition and 1974 Topps Baseball singles to upgrade my recently acquired set. The set didn't come with the red border checklists or the traded set, I need those as well.

Bump. While neither set includes Mays, Aaron, Clemente, Munson, and the Ryan in the larger group is a filler, they both include a large amount of semi-high as well as high numbers. If you have questions, please send them to me and I will give any interested party a detailed description. There is some room on the prices.

Bump. I have some flexibility on the pricing and I can provide detailed descriptions of the "key" cards in each group. Both have an abundance of high numbers as well.

Bump again. I know I probably won't get a response, but I would like to trade one or the other lot towards a 1974 Topps Baseball complete set in ex to ex-mt condition or both lots together for a 1973 set in similar condition if no one wants to pay cash.

Bump- I've provided a detailed description of what I have available for my 1971 Topps Baseball starter sets. I'm fairly strict when it comes to grading and these are not cards for an investor. If someone has any lower to mid-grade 71 stars to fill in, you'd have a great chance of putting a set together, particularly with the second group.

I am going to break both lots up to trade/sell individually. Overall, these range from vg to vg/ex with some cards a little worse while others are better than the general average of these 71s. My conditioning is stricter and the prices are cheaper than what you'll find on eBay.
