I was just curious how many people on the board have this card. You rarely see them for sale and PSA has graded 2 and SGC 1.

of course, I went to ebay and there is a PSA 5 for sale and one in lower condition.

The PSA 5 is a '15. I was more curious about the '14's out there because of the send in for the set factor with the '15's.

I recently purchased one from a board member after searching for years. About three days later, one sold on ebay (for much less!)

They are tough to find. I think it is due primarily to the popularity of Cicotte, as well as the popularity of that particular pose. I would rank it as one of the top ten nicest looking cards of all time.

Josh- for comparison sake, I was lucky enough to get mine on Ebay 4 months ago for $375. Corners are very similiar to Scott's. Mine is centered better and mine has a faint bend that can only be seen on the back. I'll say also that after I won the card I had two people email me wanting to buy it. I told both it was not for sale and the second guy said I understand but am willing to pay you $1000 for it. I accepted and then the guy backed out. I was actually glad he backed out because although it would have been a nice little profit, I really wanted the card. Call it a momentary greedy moment on my part. Now I wouldn't sell it for $1000. I figure I may never get another chance to get another one. I think there are a lot less 1914 CJ's out there than people realize. That was actually my reason for the post. Good luck Josh. There is one on Ebay right now that looks like it has been torn apart and taped back together.

Chris, I agree totally with you regarding the scarcity of the 1914 cards.

While Julies right (and I know this has been discussed before) that there are several cards where the 1915s go for more, its likely because there are many more 1915s around and in better condition today because of the full sets that were available back when the cards were offered.... thus more demand for the 1915s... not necessarily across the board but at least for certain cards.

Myself, I prefer the 1914s (even with their caramel staining) because of the knowledge that they were pulled out of a box of cracker jack by some excited kid (or parent) back in that era...

I paid $250 for mine (thought it's actually a little more complicated than that, because I picked up a second card in the same deal and traded away one of my own cards.) I was happy with the price, but was truly surprised to see one in similar condition sell for less (I think it was about $150) just a few days later on ebay. Yours is in much nicer shape than mine. Mine was a PSA2. It's pretty nice for a 2. I think it would have been a 2.5 from a company that gives half grades, but it is definitely less than a 3.
