cards, which ones would you have? Without focusing too much on value, what are your favorite five?

...I can't DO this!

One beautiful Kelly, 4BH, A35, Old Judge Chicago portrait, no cap, or N162.

1 beautiful Ewing: N167, N338-2, or 1889 cover of Harper's
A Dummy Hoy, Old Judge.
\No, I can't do it.

A Mathewson. Fan for a Fan, T205 or T202,or Boston Garter
A Cobb. T227, or Cracker Jack. I'll settle fior a T206.

A T210 Joe Jackson, a Boston Store Jackson, or a National Game Jackson.
Can I keep my photos?

It is, finally the PLAYER, on my favorite card of HIS, that I want. And what aboput Radbourn, Wagner, Ruth, and ?

(edited to say the Boston Store Jackson isn't mine (was Hal's), and the N167 Ewing I think is --Andy's?)

And why the '57 Brooks Robinson???

OK, I understand it is "which 5" out of any, not out of what you have, nor out of what you want...

1- T206 Wagner
2- T210 Jackson
3- Zeenut McMullen, with coupon of course
4- T210 Stengel
5- Old Judge Cabinet of Harry Wright

I have one of the five.

This reminds me of the line in the movie Princess Bride, "You must learn to live with disappointment." Might figure a way to get a second one of these. Can't imagine all five. I'd stay awake at night as I imagine Mr. "Well?" is doing.

But Julie's Boston Store Jackson could take Harry Wright's place without much trouble... very nice card!

Frank.

Why the 1957 Brooks Robinson? It's been a card that I've wanted for a really long time and have never purchased. Brooks is one of my all-time favorites and I would always have a place in my collection for him. I've always been a huge fan of the 57' Topps set. While his pic isn't the most amazing, it's still my favorite out of all his cards. Brooks didn't have too many good action-shot cards.

He also rounds out Matty, Rusie, Lajoie, and Anson nicely.

1. E92 etc. Mathewson
2. N162 Kelly
3. T206 Leifield pitching
4. All the great looking 1910/1911 Obaks taped together in one big strip (it pays to bend the rules)
5. My first beat-up Matty T206 with black cap--it is what got my juices flowing in the first place

I have all but one of the above (but am also lacking that big strip of tape).

Brian

To me, the five I could never part with is the same as the five I want the most. If told today that I could only ever have 5 cards, I would keep these and stop collecting.

1. T206 Matty White Hat (SGC 60)
2. T206 Bender Portrait (SGC 50)
3. 1985 Topps McGwire autographed
4. T206 Cobb Green Portrait (SGC 40)
5. T206 Matty Portrait (SGC 80)

The first two were my first two T206's and I bought them with my girlfriend (now my wife and mother of my first child) in 1997.

The McGwire I got autographed in person when I was 14, in October 1987, just after he finished his rookie season. It was my first big card (over $10) and it was my first big autograph (although Ron Darling and Mel Stottlemyre might have some argument).

The Cobb green is probably my favorite T206 card, other than....

My Matty Portrait, which is in better condition than the one a friend of mine bought when we were both 15 that he would never let me look at.

1. t206 Plank
2. t206 Wagner
3. t210 Jackson
4. E95 Cobb
5. 1911 Zeenut Halla

The first three out of the sheer rarity and stature of them.

The E95 to complete my set, and the best portrait of Cobb on a card.

The Halla because it is the most beautiful card I have seen.

Bill

I'm sure I'd come up with a different list everytime I was asked, but here's one:

Peck & Snyder Reds team card
G&B Al Spalding
Just So Cy Young
Baltimore Ruth
Zeenut Fatty Arbuckle

Lots of runners up, like: N162 Kelly, Four Base Hits Kelly, M101-4/5 Thorpe, Zeenut Joe DiMaggio, N172 Anson in uniform, N173 Ewing w/mascot, M101-5 Sisler as a pitcher, E92 Matty, CJ Matty horizontal, E94 violet Young, my own Allegheny Frank Selee, W600 Jennings with Philadelphia ...

Julie, no I didn't win. But I hate that card. I want it only because I need it to complete my set of Hall of Famers. If it wasn't for that, I'd rather have Tommy McCarthy. The G&B Spalding is different. I'd love to have that card even if I wasn't putting together a set of Hall of Famers.
