Default Mascot Gum Pins

Posted By: Rhett Yeakley

I have a little extra time tonight, and got to thinking about an item I have had for a little while that has always puzzled me a little. Most pin collectors know about the 1910 Mascot Gum Pins featuring the Rochester team that had won the Eastern League championship. I have owned a few from this series over the years and they are neat pins reminiscent of the Diamond Gum Pins. However all that I have ever seen have a very BLUE border on front, such as the example pictured below that recently ended on ebay (Good pickup Joe, I got busy and forgot to throw my bid out there until too late)

That being said, I have owned the following pin for a while, apart from being an uncatalogued addition to the checklist, the front has a distinctly green border. My pin has a much more orange photo, but it is too consistent to be attributed to any discoloration (the scan makes the top appear a little bluish, but it is the same as the bottom green color). Has anybody ever seen another Mascot with the color difference? I know there are some fellow pin guys here, and just wanted to get a little feedback.

-Rhett

Edited to add: Please note the these scans are extremely blown up from their actual size (just slightly larger than a nickel)

as I've had Diamond Gum pins with similar type of discoloration. Joe can add Moran to Batch & Blair he bought from me.
