Default The Most Beautiful Card Ever--With a Twist

There have been countless threads here proposing "the most beautiful" card (or just t206 card) ever etc. Invariably the nominees just happen to be HOFers--more often, top-tier ones. It's true, they often did get more attention from designers and artists, but it seems our aesthetic appreciation is often overly-influenced by the fame of the subject.

So I propose here a different approach. Offer your pick for "everyone would say this is one of the most beautiful cards ever--if it was for, say, Walter Johnson."

I could propose a dozen or more but here's just one from me to give you an idea....

Default Wow!

Greg,

We must have been on the same wavelength. Check out my thread about a PSA 4 that makes yours even more enjoyable to look at!

Peace, Mike

T212s are vastly underrated imo. They are, dare I say, more beautiful than any other tobacco release.

T212-2 Obak and T212-3 Obaks are eons more attractive than the T206 set. Of the tobacco issues, Obaks are the winners hands down.

Just a couple years ago, I had about 225 T206's. Then I discovered the Obaks. Sold all but a hand full of my favorite T206's and replaced them with 1910 and 1911 Obaks. Haven't looked back since.

Greg, the Blankenship is a terrific card! The uniform details and background colors super cool plus it is an amazing portrait.

Default Not Pre-War, but I think the artist did great work on these:

1951 BOWMAN GUS ZERNIAL PSA 8.jpg
1951 Bowman WERTZ PSA7.jpg

And here's a favorite Pre-War Non HOFer:

Hard to argue with your pick Greg. I'm sure there are quite a few T3s that would be in the running. My gf looks at my cards without knowing which guys are HOFers, and this one is her favorite:

Great cards guys, Jay agree hard to find an ugly T3.

Obaks are great no arguments here, they even look amazing in B&W.

Great stuff guys, love the W600 Jerry!

Some more colorful Obaks. J. Smith looks to have some serious hairy arm going on.

Wow I never realized how nice Obak's were!!! I have a Roy Brashear game used bat. It's huge. Like 36" 48oz. It looks just like the bat in his Obak picture above...

To put this thread back on its original, non-HOF track, I present to you Matty Leifield:

Great thread but a reminder: the idea is to pick a truly beautiful card that is NOT an HOFer--where if it was one of the all-time great players it would be considered legendary, even iconic...

here's another nominee from me: It's said to be Hans Lobert. I love the hand-tinted in most cases...http://www.net54baseball.com/attachm...1&d=1427067865

Oops, my bad...I'm on vacation. Okay then I go with the Glasscock from the 1888 Goodwin Champions. Can someone post one for me since I'm busy turning over maragaritas?

Nevermind, here's one.
