I am a will decide in 2026, but I am now leaning towards yes. I am seeing more and more nice cards in CGC slabs and I like some of the company's features/pricing.

I’d purchase already graded CGC cards, But I’m done with the crapshoot of sending in raw cards to get graded myself

I would if their TAT wasn't so Ridiculous. I like their slabs, almost as nice as SGC

Now that's funny!

I submitted some OJs. I asked them to put the pose number on the flip (I provided the pose number on my submission slip). If they can't keep up with the Jones' (SGC), then that will be the last time I submit to them. I like what SGC did as a final product improvement when they added the pose numbers to the OJ flips

I wouldn't go as far as ask them to put the year on the flip because I'm guessing there would be errors made by hobbyist during the submission process and I'm going to bet the graders don't have the expertise to figure it out.

Thanks. Yeah that is awhile compared to SGC, even with their times being slower than they used to be.

Everyone states how good they look in the holders. I think they look just as bad as PSA or even worse. I guess the cards are graded to decent enough standards. PSA can grade trimmed and doctored cards with a number grade and that's fine. None of them can tell in reality.

PSA has done everything to make sure new SGC slabs they use, the cards look like hell on occasion as well. Many times, swimming in the holder and borders.

Won my first CGC graded card from Hake's a month or two ago. First impression was the slab looked clean. Then I scanned the card. Their mylar sleeves will not scan clear and I tried every setting possible. I know it minor thing, but it was a turnoff for me. I like nice clean scans of my collection.

Nice card. I can't stand those sleeves. I don't understand why they can't do something like this: (PSA themselves don't do it all the time either but they should)

See how nicely the card is set in the slab? No need for baggies or the floatiing plastic blobs that hold the card in the center.

(Not my card)

Crap, I was wondering about the sleeve and scans. I scanned the cards I submitted prior to sending them in. I'd rather have the ability to scan the cards, cleanly, in the slabs. I guess I'll find out and learn the hard way.

If you send in cards you get scans as part of the service. I voted yes; I already use CGC.

I USUALLY buy cards...not slabs. I've used CGC for a handful of cards no other service would slab...and I appreciate that. I like their holder...don't love the label...but I trust them more than PSA.

Disclosure...I'm not a big customer of any opinion providers.

I'm slabnostic [where's JollyElm, this is one for his dictionary ]

I'll buy a card in any slab if the price is right. In fact, I've been looking for bargain BVG, CGC and related slabs. If I can get a great card at a massive discount because it doesn't come with a hideous red label, then that's a bonus.

I made my first CGC submission at the National and I was very pleased with the results. The price for on-site grading was pretty good and the slabs look great.

My expectation is that with more people using CGC that it will start to become more and more accepted and discounts for CGC will reduce. I hope that SGC will continue to thrive in the vintage market but if PSA drops that ball, then CGC seems to be the next best alternative.

I voted ‘maybe’. I’ve always preferred SGC because, in my opinion, vintage cards look amazing inside the black insert. I’ve recently bought two CGC cards, and I think their slabs are great…the flip looks good and the slab itself if super clear/transparent. Unfortunately, both of my cards have the annoying insert that is so distracting.
Maybe someone from CGC reads this thread. I would 100% submit cards through their service if they found a way to avoid the plastic insert.

I might give them a try now...

Getting rid of that ugly sleeve is a big step in the right direction. The fewer layers of plastic I have to look through, the better. And their slabs are crystal clear. Hope they can gain a foothold in the market, given the monopolistic nature of things currently.

The post is over a year old...does anyone have recent examples of tobacco cards that have come back with nice fitting slabs and no baggie?

No not after the lack of response to the rebacked Schirm Carolina Brights card that they graded and is still in their data base.
