Default Worthpoint + Sources for Comps on Tickets

Anyone use Worthpoint? What do you think? Do you get pictures and links to auctions/sales? How does it compare to VCP?

I ask because I am now collecting tickets and I am having trouble finding comps. Worthpoint may be one solution (rather than searching many AH archives).

Ticket collectors -- how/where do you find Comps?

Thanks

I used to use worthpoint often mostly to search if scarce items came up on Ebay. I would definitely recommend it for tracking ticket prices. Orher places are the Obvious REA archive Heritage Archive Goldin Archives. Good luck with your hunt.

Sales history requires the $20/month ($200/year) Pro subscription

There is a 7 day free trial option to test things out.

Cool, you get that for $20/month. I know there is a free trial, but knowing me, I would sign up, forget to cancel, and be obligated to pay even if I didn’t use it!

Off topic but wondering if there is a known game ticket(s) that is (are) widely considered the holy grail(s). Guessing the issue gets complicated because some older tickets were for an entire season.

Some interesting ones I found in my search while trying to find highest sales of all time

It’s annoying because the 2000 Brady Rookie Auto card has Ticket in the title

Same with some late 1990s Jordan autos from upper deck

But like eBay we can do exclusion tags (-Contenders -upper)

Hi Don, I personally wouldn’t eliminate World Series games, nor Super Bowls from the discussion. In fact, some of the most desirable, rare, special, and/or valuable tickets are from famous World Series games and Super Bowls.

Quick examples that support the above- Larsen Perfect Game, Jackie Robinson Steals Home, 1919 WS, Ruth Called Shot, 1903 (first) WS, Willie Mays “Catch”, Super Bowl I, Super III, etc, etc.

Ryan, welcome to ticket collecting- a truly awesome sector of the Hobby…Re: comps, some of the top auction houses have great archive search engines with 1000’s of past examples (REA, Heritage, Leland’s, Goldin, etc)…great for market research.

I do not disagree with you on value, sentimental, desirable, etc.

I took the word "grail" to mean almost impossible to find married with the desirability.

A lot of people kept those tickets because the magnitude of the event was already known before the games even started.

No one knew Wilt was going to throw up 100 that night. The gym was small and the game was not even televised. Historical significance + small crowd = $$$$$

Hey Ryan. The only options we ticket collectors have currently are Card Ladder to some degree (as. Don pointed out) and worthpoint. Worthpoint is pretty good for tickets because it pulls in data from more auction houses.

I was about to DM Nat Turner or Chris / Josh (from CL) if they plan on introducing Ticket Ladder (ha) or ensure CardLadder pulls in more ticket sales.

Tom D. recently shared this Top 100 list with me. Although I may not totally agree with the actual rankings (and maybe a few things missing, i.e. "Jackie Robinson Steals Home" 1955 WS), it’s a wonderful resource & roadmap for ticket collectors, both beginners and advanced. The Aaron debut stub in the recent Goldin auction hit 36k. I think that would bump a few off the top 10.

lol. I won that! Not sure if it’s top 10, but it’s pretty beast, I think.

TJ, thank you for the info. Seems like Worthpoint may be worth the investment
