Typically, the vote is taken on Thursday of the show at the annual dealer meeting but I believe you might be able to vote through the mail as well if you are a booth holder and do not attend that meeting.

They will not announce the selection for a while even if the vote is complete.

I watched a live panel on Thursday afternoon at the National where John Newman said that Atlanta was already announced.

So excited now, my 24 year old and his friends were cheering. Wait till you see how great this is going to be. We built for this, The North American Auto Show is one of the largest conventions in the country and it’s no sweat. Huntington is walking distance to all our stadiums and hotels, food is plentiful and the area is completely harmless. The one ways can be confusing but an Indy race is held each year that goes right through there, so it’s not bad.

Edited to add the one warning, lol. Watch your street signs so you don’t pull the rookie mistake and accidentally leave the country. People ignore the two hundred signs and end up in the tunnel to Canada all the time. It’s a long talk if you didn’t bring a passport. 20 minutes on a slow drive to Windsor Ontario, lol.

This would mark the first time that the National could be a day trip for me. As a bonus, I am familiar with a lot of out of the way motels between points A and B if needed. Works for me. I may actually attend a National again after all. Let's all hope and pray that Pokemii and Pikachii have gone to visit the Beanie Babies by 2028.

I am very curious to witness what Detroit has done to clean things up in the years since I've visited. Revitalization would definitely be a tall order. I've long had a soft spot for Detroit in a way that I never could seem to muster for Cleveland or Baltimore. In a different part of my life, I was in that city and its suburbs five times a week. It's so hard to believe that Detroit was once incredibly beautiful, teeming with one architectural masterpiece after another. I'm happy that something positive has occurred for this city. It's about time!

I attended Wayne State downtown and worked at the Free Press in the late 80's and 90's. Honestly, it was a dump. Abandoned buildings, crime, you name it. There was Greektown, and that was about it. Today, it is absolutely stunning how different Detroit is. There's still some really really dangerous neighborhoods you wouldn't want to be at night, but name a big city that doesn't have that. The architecture alone is worth the trip. Every time I go downtown I can't believe the changes. My daughter is moving downtown and I'm not even scared for her. In the 90's I would have been freaked out. Thank god it's in the summer. It still isn't awesome here in January.
