| Scott - I just love this card...... Quote:
and apparently we share an appreciation of the Frey N28. While I sold my set (a hint too pedestrian) I kept a sweet Frey along with an Oakley and Buffalo Bill in my treasured cards type card subset. Forgetting about the all too easy jokes - unlike most normally staged cards - the inexplicable balls in the air thing gets me - and despite the unbordered white background approach I find the card to be aesthetically pleasing. Nice Nap Scott, as you pointed out the color and registration is very good for that set and overall very good anyway!

Just bought this interesting card last night. It pictures Julia St. Clair, who through research I have identified as a Bloomer Girl. I found her on a roster in 1902, so I'd guess this was produced some time around then. I also found one other image through Google search as well as a discussion on another example on this website. That makes 3 and it makes me confident this was a commercially issued card and not just a homemade memento: |

"Gribbin" came in the mail today -- another example of a great exchange with a board member -- thank you! I put Gribbin in quotes because his actual name (and anything about him) eludes me. Baseball reference spells his name Francis Gribbens: http://www.baseball-reference.com/re...d=gribbe001fra Lew Lipset spelled it Gribbon on his encyclopedia. What other references should I check? I'm still looking for a few more Red Sun cards over on the BST page. Cheers, Steve |

I picked up this beauty in an eBay auction for a nice price -- 25 cents below my maximum bid! My third AB 460, and probably the nicest one condition-wise, though the other two are not bad. Last edited by trdcrdkid; 02-11-2016 at 09:26 PM. |

| Number 285 is a bit of a biggie for me

Not that the card is rare, or anything like that, but since it is a HoFer, and even then a higher-tiered HoFer, I don't often get a chance to try and get these back with the others. But sometimes, thanks to people like John, Joe, Scott and in this case, the guys at Clairmont Sports Cards, I've been able to work out payment plans where they hold the card while I slowly pay it off, then send it on. This arrived in the mail today. Again, thanks to Dave, Bake and Lee at Clairmont Sports Cards, and to everyone else who has helped reunite all these cards. (If I left anyone out who has helped in this way, sincerest apologies)

After not posting any photos in a while, I was pretty pleased with this month so I feel like it today. Grabbed a few good looking low grade examples to add to the man cave - I also guiltily admit to grabbing a worthless one that has made numerous thread appearances on this site as I wanted it when it was in a lot in the fall Heritage auction. Sometimes you just got to smile... I think he will sit on my desk for a bit to remind me of my love for fried chicken.
