Well, if the guy says he can't afford/justify the card, it seems to me the last thing he needs is a pep talk.

I'm gonna let you guys in on a little secret about card restoration. Pressing cards flat to smash them and give them a larger footprint is not a thing. I know you've all read that it is in fact a thing that card doctors do, and have heard that rumor for decades. But I assure you, this is not a thing.

I think authentic altered cards with strong eye appeal, particularly with high-end cards, is one of the best places you can put your money in this hobby.
