When is the last time you heard of police actively chasing down a handful of (relatively speaking to the larger thefts they deal with) moderate value baseball cards? Maybe it happens on occasion, but I've heard many more stories of police not being bothered, citing, among other reasons, more important things to do. And this is the LAPD. You can't tell me that they would take time away from all the usual L.A. crime to deal with a stolen Ned Williamson unless OP knew someone on the force. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, and if that's the case, OP won the lottery in actually finding someone who cared.
Not to mention, SoCal has even more things to worry about than usual these days. A few stolen baseball cards should rightly be at the bottom of a to-do list at the moment with everything that's been on their plate. It's great that this story had a happy ending--I'm just surprised that law enforcement was that proactive. Last edited by BillyCoxDodgers3B; 02-13-2025 at 02:18 PM. |
