Yep, someone else probably tried to register the serial number in their registry and was told it was already assigned to one.
Do you have it logged into your PSA registry or inventory? After the trimming scandal, they have started decertifying cert numbers without even having the cards in hand now, so it could be something else. But Jackie should be able to get you the answers.
