A few years ago, a Paint Store in Pontiac (Pontiac Paint) supplied material to a man who was restoring an old wooden seat from Tiger Stadium. The men at the store referred to the color as, "Stroh's Green."
I remember when they renovated the ballpark. The old seats were in a huge pile outside the stadium sitting in the winter weather. I think they were asking five or ten bucks for a seat. Maybe someone can correct me on that price. Then they covered the stadium in tin siding and put in plastic seats.....Fenway has character, Wrigley has character. As soon as you add tin siding and plastic, there goes the character. It just as easily could have been a Home Depot (although they never could have removed the stale beer smell). I am forever stunned the place stood as long as it did. |
