If someone else comes into the picture - they would have to wait until the reasonable amount of time has expired. People have lives.... they go to dinner, spend time with family, do other things besides stay by a computer..... giving a person time to complete a transaction is just plain common courtesy in my opinion. You handled the situation exactly right IMO.
