YES.

He was the "heart and soul" of the big red machine. Always delivered the key 2 out hit when they needed it most. Look what happened to the Reds after Perez was traded, following the 1976 season. Same remaining "cast of characters" but they never won again.

MLB Network does various rankings off the "Top 9" of all time. I think the show is called "Prime 9" or something like that. Most of these shows air in the off-season, when programming is thin. Anyway, one of the shows focused on the top Clutch Hitters of all-time. They ranked Perez 7th... only behind the likes of Gehrig, Ruth, Musial, Williams and a couple more.

IMHO, a statue is not only deserved, but overdue!

A couple antique mall finds this last weekend.

First off is an Olsen's Base Ball card game printed by Olsen Games Co. in Portland Oregon. The instructions are copyright 1925, though I don't know when this actual set was printed. Included are 60 cards, 30 of them red backed and 30 blue backed. I can't find much information about the set but each card features a generic baseball player with a different baseball play. I removed the rubber band but it appears the bottom of the box may have been removed at some point, so the cards can slide out easily.

The second purchase was a vintage badminton racket manufactured by George Gibson Bussey & Co. I can't find much information on it but it appears to be late 19th century or early 20th century.

If anyone knows anything more about either of these items, please let me know. Thanks for looking.

Grant

Hi Grant, nice pick-up on the Olsen's. The 1925 Portland edition is seen much less often than the original 1922 edition
produced in Chicago. The two editions are identical but for the still similar boxes and the publishing info on the instructions.

These 3 bats were used by the player and sent to Xbat to be used to make their own Xbat model. Hence the information on the tape and the writing on the Pudge barrel. Pretty cool bats.

2003 Pudge Rodriguez (says "34-31 1/2 NO cup, black)

Well, there ya go! As I said, I didn't like them. I watched Fisk's stay fair HR from a bar at Ohio University and loved it.

Joe Morgan was cool, tho
