Shortly after I started following baseball and collecting cards at the age of nine in the summer of 1970, I watched Johnny Bench and Pete Rose play for the first time and instantly became a Reds fan. I'll never forget walking into an air-conditioned market at Higgins Lake, Michigan, on a hot and humid day, and seeing a box of Topps Supers for the first time.
