The irony of the whole thing is that the cards that need encapsulation the most for preservation are the damaged ones.
I completely agree, its an absolute pain.

UPDATE I spoke to someone at PSA today who said its up to the discretion of the grader if they want to slab a card or not. I'm so glad we give this level of authority to graders when i'm asking for a basic service to be done.To the point of another commenter I asked if I could release liability for card damage and PSA said no. My next option is to take it to the national for drop off and see if I can talk to management or someone there about what can be done. I'm willing to pay your stated price to put a card in a piece of plastic, its wild they don't take me up on it!

The final option is just to crack it, throw some more tape on it and send it via a bulk grader to see if I can get in their good graces that way.
