In 2019, I bought a near SGC graded set of 503 with the average grade 3.
My closest reach to a 520 set. Paid $35K. Of course, missing 3 Cobbs, 3 Mathewsons, 3 Youngs, 2 Johnsons, O'Hara and Demmitt ST. Louis, and a couple other toughies. Still, at the time a good purchase. Broke and sold it within a couple of months for $50K. Current number, 0, but always looking for another set/near set. Missed out on a good deal in an REA auction last year of 518 all SGC/PSA graded at $100K missing only O'Hara and Demmitt St. Louis for the 520. More recently, a 520 set was on their marketplace at $200K but out of my price range. I guess it sold as it is no longer on the site. No patience to put a set together card for card. A friend of mine has put (7) 520 sets together over the last 55 years but has sold them all. Working on #8 now. |
