While I agree that the prices have gotten out of hand there is one and only one thing driving the whole thing down the road - people (fans) are willing to pay. And they are lining up to do it. It is insane what is charged and crazier still that people pay it but they do. Over and over again.

So I begrudge no one for asking what they (or their people) do. And adding to the mix that MANY pieces which people pay exorbitant amounts to have autographed are then resold at a profit than who really is to blame?

And David, since you like to get so technical in what you say and your interpretations of what others do too - no show promoter is paying their bills off a Jeter signing. He does not make appearances like that. So actually, it nearly all flows back to he and his people. He has eliminated the middle man. And I don't think any less of him for it. And evidently the people who keep paying don't either.
