Here’s an easy answer to the Jeter cost question: just say no.

As for the rest, no one is going to solve this argument but to say that money doesn’t influence politics is just ignorant. The tax code has expanded tenfold and it isn’t because it is more equitable. The people with money wrote favorable elements into it and paid politicians to enact it. Even that icon of capitalism Warren Buffett says it makes no sense that he pays a lower tax rate than his secretary.
