Here's my entry. I'm sure the theme of women players is not that hard to figure out. |

All right Gil. It has something to do with names or nicknames of birds. Or is that too obvious? We've got Goose, The Bird, Swan, Chick, Robin ... |

All of their names or nicknames have an ornithological theme? |

Good work sleuths. It was the first cards which I obtained for my avian collection which I started around 2002 (and abandoned two years later). |

And these were the first cards I obtained for the set which replaced the Avians - what is the theme of this one? |

Ed, that is a great way to collect. It's like you're bringing the family back together. Do you have any theories on why he stamped his cards? |

I have one theory on why some of the old tobacco cards are stamped and this came up when I read an old letter from Jefferson Burdick to Lionel Carter. I think that some of the old collectors stamped the cards because when they wanted to do trading they would sometimes just ship off their whole collection of T206 extras (or whatever cards) to the other guy and they would stamp them so the other guy wouldn't get them mixed with his cards. |

I think Dan has something there with the stamping thing... there can be other reasons, but that is a good one. I can see that in that day putting a mark on the back was not such a big deal. |

Thanks for displaying your T206 "specialty" set. You and I have talked about these before. But, I'm curious; where did Howe McCormick |

The birth record, marriage license and death certificate were all from just two counties in Florida. My guess is, other than service in WWI, he must not have ventured very far from the Gainesville, FL area. His cards have travelled much further than he did. |
