Pretty neat article Leon. I remember when Wirt wrote articles for SCD back in the 1970's and 1980's I think that was "Wirt's Words" Rob.

Yep, Joe. I always enjoyed reading that Q&A column, but my friends and I always chuckled at how often Wirt's "answer" was: Perhaps a reader can help.

I thought it kind of funny there was a bit of a complaint about everyone being a dealer and then one of the ads noted- (Not a Dealer)

I bought my first T205s from Wirt in 1976 after seeing a complete set at my first card show. I remember thinking on the drive home from the show that the dealer that had the set for $200.00 was "nuts."
Wirt not only wrote for the SCD but ran ads offering T205s & T206s at nice prices but his choice of cards, not yours. He also wrote a nice history of the Chattanooga Lookouts. |
